And how often do yo get to witness that ? Its a rare commodity in town, if you know what I mean. Am yet to see a retard driving a baleno.

So get your facts straight and simply dont post for the heck of it for no reasons.Just because some-one made a comment doesnt mean you try to pick at him. Ooh hell yeah even am a baleno owner.

This thread is all about Scorpio drivers and their attitude on the roads.

Back to topic, was driving thru a 1 way(from mathikere to muthyalnagar) and I see a scorpio trying to squeeze thru in the opp' direction, I blocked him off. I never moved an inch till he reversed and got back into one of the by-lanes.

He dint have a reason to argue and in no time vehicles piled up behind me. No waste of energy or petrol. I simply switched off the car and waited for him to reverse and follow the right way.

Today morning too, I saw a Delhi registered Baleno being driven like an auto.

RJ, Its not the SCORPIO. Its the person who drives it, is trying to squeeze thru. That's the driving habit of an average indian (No matter how educated he is or what he is driving) We are grown up with that. Right from your School bus driver to your latest chauffer would have demonstrated that to you. Other than the TBHPians or other Auto enthusiasts, how many are actually bothered/AWARE of Road manners. Be it a Goonda or an Executive.

I believe (ONLY) in Safe driving whether its a SCORPIO or a SANTRO (My character will not change when i drive a SANTRO). 4 of my friends are using SCORPIOs & none of them are rash drivers either. Since the number of SCORPIOs sold here is higher than any other SUV, the probability is naturally higher to find a bad driver. Lets not blame that Vehicle for it & the word MOST will not justify it.

"MOST" was the BEST i could come up with.
How i wish all scorpio owners were like you.

Last evening, I saw a Safari (2.2 Dicor VX, Gold) bullying smaller cars (he bullied my car too), autos and pedestrians and generally weaving in and out of peak traffic like his dad owned the roads in Mumbai.

He was generally behaving in the manner attributed to Scorpio owners in this thread, so lets call it quits.

Oh true. There are times when I drive like an absolute nitwit, and I'm sure people are looking at me and using the choicest invectives.

My point is, in BLR, you will often find middle-management IT peeps who have very little idea of cars or driving or road discipline driving NHCs. They're rather affordable Hondas, which their friends in the US drive, so they buy them. Mileage is great too. So then they drive them, with both mirrors folded in, and forget to use their indicators too. You'd expect this from a cabbie, but not from someone who has a coupla degrees.

I would have loved to agree with you there, but only if you'd phrased it better. Like saying "Some Baleno drivers are rash and drive like idiots". But your statement looks more like an attack. Look at what the subject in your sentence is. If you've called someone or some group as idiot/idiots there, I'd like to tell you that Baleno owners wouldn't be affected, since it is a loose statement. You can cross check the posts that have supported your statement.

No car is spared, rash drivers can be found everywhere. The point of this thread is to say that it is surprisingly higher with Scorpios.

I was almost impressed to go for a Scorpio, when I landed in India, the sleek looks and speed, giving Safari run for its money. But, few weeks in Chennai, I swear I wouldn't take a Scorpio even someone gifts me one.

Reasons: As everyone said here, Rash-driving. All those who were drivers of Sumo's and Qualii, have now been given one of these vehciles. It really is a first in off-roader for riding (sure not for safety, which most of Indian cars have a the least priority).
All these driver are basically thugs hired by Politicans, transport operators, Taxi operators, Real Estate mafia and the likes. They suddenly have been given a good powerful and comfortable vehcile in place of Dumb Amby's or Sumos and some Safaris, and the power bestowed by their owners. And suddenly they become the Gods of the Roads... They never give you way or wait for the right of way...
For us, we have no other option than to let them go, as far as they want to and as fast as they love to... safe for us...

Well adding to the point, i just saw an accident today at ring road in Bangalore. A lady was knocked over as she was trying to cross the road and the vehicle just sped away....No need to guess...yes it was a scorpio, a white one. Though the asthetics of scorpio never attracted me to it, i never developed any hatred for it...but nowadays, i really hate scorpios! I just cant stand the sight of that vehicle!!! [Though there are a handful of decent scorpio drivers too, n i respect that]

How can you hate it so much? If someone was planning to gift RT a scorpio and is turned off by the above statement, please consider me

On folded mirrors: I've noticed this umpteen number of times and have argued with people who claim that they can drive with both the mirrors folded in. I would also go on to say that most of the IT-people you are talking about may not be very good drivers. So, it is a question of incomptence Vs. deliberate rashness that is *occasionaly* seen with some UV drivers. What would Irritate you more?

More scorpios are driven in rash style because of the type of ownership. I see so many unauthorized Scorpio taxis plying with HR number plates. However there are hardly any Safari Taxi's.
so its like Sumo and qualis, taxi drivers who are the problem.

I am with SU-47.
I can't imagine driving with both side mirrors folded in. But, my taxi-driver friend can. I have been watching his driving habits and found that he never cares who comes in the left or right, but just goes on. He has such dark film stuck on his side window-glasses, he couldn't even see through them, so why to have side view mirrors. He has a yellow board and he knows for sure that self-driving people like you and me give great 'respect' to yellow boards...!!! (He even suggested me to fix an yellow board on my number plate and asked me to see the difference.. )

Its not the cabbies in the NCR - most of the ones I see here are private cars with mirrors folded. You know almost immediately what their driving style is - they hog the middle of the road & weave from left to right, most times they've probably got music blaring loudly so they can't hear you honk. If you flash your lights, they pretend they haven't seen.

I detest these guys - more so when they are driving the large sedans where its so essential to keep a look out on both sides before you cut across lanes.

Returned from a long drive for the Deepavali holidays. Have to say that Scropios are driven rashly. There is something about this.

But the most rashly driven vehicles are TATA make. (except Safari). If you want to identify idiotic people on roads, just look for Indica, Indigo, Sumo.

Most of these are driven not by owners.
