Racing Lines - Auto Bike smash up

I was driving with my 1 year old and the home minister(of course its my missus) to do some shopping. I had to drive through some narrow by roads and spent most of the time ensuring cyclists and biker boys stayed away from my flanks. Being narrow , bikers and autorickshaws follow every tactic to get ahead. Just as I was negotiating a bunch of school children going to their schools for vijaydashami, i noticed a yellow vehicle zooming really fast in my R.ORVM and my foot reacted by taking an anticipatory position at the brakes, true to my fears the auto cut me missing me barely by whishkers and both myself and an oncoming santro had to brake to avoid the auto.
The oncoming guy was swearing at the auto and as usual I just shook my head and moved on. The auto did not stop for anyone and it kept moving.

There was a T junction short way ahead and the auto guy took the turn at a good clip taking a racing line (that is he entered the right bend at the extreme right of the road in such a manner that he would enter the street facing the oncoming traffic). There have been many instances when I would wonder what would happen if they face an oncoming lorry when taking right turns at this speed.

True to my fears today there was this idiot on a two wheeler who took a Free left from the other side.. Perhaps he thought free left meant he has to switch of his bird brains and take a left turn at full speed.

What would happen? when the twain meet?

BANG!!!!! it was a side along collision and the biker boy was thrown up in the air. He landed pat on his back and stood up in the impact iitself only to collapse like a suddenly deflated balloon. Thankfully he had his helmet on. But the helmet snapped and rolled away on impact.
I stopped to check if the guy was OK only to see the biker get up groggily and walk back to the auto and start a fight.
I waited for two seconds to see if the guys were alright. Oh yeah they were going by the decibels they were doing.

What can i say ? Both were idiots. The auto driver like a milion other idiots on the road who take right turns using racing lines was a CERTIFIED IDIOT.

The biker who took a FREEEEE left was also an EDUCATED IDIOT (again like a gazillion others)
God! save this country from good people!

Ouch! that must have hurt but it would have been fun to see who the crowd would have supported. Auto or Biker.
Technically it wasn't as much the bikers fault as it was the autos fault.

Biker should not have taken that turn at full clip like a rossi on a left bend right?

Ah! When will they grow up? The Autos and two-wheelers seem to be unsafe and yet, the biggest risk takers on road.

i have seen this a lot in chennai. people move to the right side of the road to take a right turn as if the driving on the left side rule is not applicable whil taking a right turn. what about someone taking a left turn at the same time???
