Thats really outrageous to drink and drive and added to that racing on streets. That should have been the last item on the agenda for those folks but i suppose they had other plans. Police should confiscate their DL's and if i aint wrong in Mumbai the offence is a jail term for about a month if i recollect correctly for driving under the influence. And these guys still did it,look @ their guts man!!

I live about very close to this spot. They have speedbreakers practically every 100 metres or so. Seems crazy to try and race there.

Looks like these guys got INSPIRED by THEIR cab drivers. This is what happens if you learn driving from the wrong people.

Hmmm... Drinking & Driving... VAT69 proved to be expensive that day.

Lucky for the Santro Guys - Must have taught them a lesson at least.

These guys really are crazy. That is not a road to race for heavens sake. Too many speedbreakers and too narrow roads. That too roads leading to that area have been dug up

Why such lame comments? Do you need an excuse for rash driving?

Question: Why are you driving rash?
Answer: I learnt driving from a cab driver

Check their age. Is it the age to be inspired? The cab drivers are at least 5 to 10 years younger.

Stupid people. First of all drinking and driving, and then racing under the influence too.

Luckily no innocent person was hurt. If the law has its way these guys will end up going to jail directly from the hospital.

And learn to drive/race from a cabbie? how lame. I see bpo's cabbie's everyday on my way back from work. These maniac's slipstream cars for overtaking which is way too dangerous.

I didn't want to post my comments but then couldn't resist. In their late twenties, those BPO employees were no babes in the woods; rather mature & responsible people. To have done so is abominable.

An old saying - "As you sow, so you reap". I don't have sympathies for them..

so what do you call all those 18~19 years old on wheels, Babies???

Our media always gets confused with where to place a person based on age - the news always read as "A youth of 40 years..."

As far as I can see, there is no evidence that the Santro driver was drunk. As pointed out by others, the road was narrow and had speed-breakers. That is Santro territory, and definitely not Lancer territory.

The Lancer is too big and heavy a car to attempt to race on narrow roads even when the driver is sober, and its bottom may scrape on the speed breakers (unlike Santro). This is the lesson I hope the Lancer driver learnt. The Santro driver I hope is now regretting the decision to provoke/get provoked into a race with such tragic consequences.

But it could have been worse. I believe the critically injured are now stable and out of danger. Next time they will be more sober and wiser.

@rks,
forget about a car model, be it any kind of off-roader or any sort of rally car, this is not a race track, period... and they are playing this game risking someone's life (theirs too) on the street. what if someone was hurt / lost life because of their stupidity,, be it any kind of vehicle, its not a race track, I would definately stop them and teach a good lesson if I can....

....hopefully SLOWER and the BRAINS switched ON all the time.

Yes, it could've been worse. Imagine if they had crashed into your parents / brother / sister taking a walk. You wouldn't be talking of the Lancer's bottom scraping.

That is DEFINITELY NOT the lesson they need to learn. PERIOD.
