Around 920 Km Hyderabad-Calicut in a Santro, with a night halt at Mysore ( around 720 Km or so ). Was fun! I had to sing aloud once in a while to break the monotony however

Bangalore to Palaghat - 400~kms. Half way thru when in Salem, realized that I have reached just the mid mark! Started getting nuts!

Drove for another hour with the music blaring like crazy! (Usual 10-15 point level in Sony Xplod but had set it to 35!!!)

Finally stopped at a road side tea shop had two glasses of tea - it was so relaxing.

i did bangalore to ahmedabad around 1500km one way. Return was with a old friend. Break journey was in pune and it took two days one way. I say the NE-1 was great if you love straight roads. Did approx 175 in OHC VTEC.

Vijayawada-Hyderabad Door to Door distance of 320 KMs. It was a bit on the boring side. Positive sides thought are occasional smoke whenever I like with a good cup of tea.

did bangalore - coorg - bangalore alone in a Gypsy. And to top it, my clutch blew in coorg while off roading. had to travel from coorg to bangalore on a near zero clutch. took whole day for me to reach bangalore from coorg. the last 30 KMS in bangalore were horrible but my Gypsy made it and I kissed my Gypsy when i reached home.

Driving alone is one heck of an experience.. just awsome..

Longest solo stretch was about 440kms total: Ernakulam to Trivandrum and then back after a 1 hour break.

I quite enjoyed it. My speeds, my music, my volume levels. NO backseat drivers. Heaven.

The fact that I'm reasonably familiar with the roads (6-8 trips a year along the same roads) probably helped.

Blessed with some great bunch of friends & family members, I hardly ever drive alone on the highway. My longest solo's would be a trip from Deolali (Nasik) to Mumbai in my Esteem VX, and Boston - New York in my Accord.

I had to think for 15 minutes before I realised that I've never been on an highway alone in all my driving life of more than 80000 kms over 10 years in 7 countries.

cheers:

My longest solo drive is also my most memorable drive - from Harare to Cape Town in a 3.5 litre Diesel Nissan pickup. It is the trip of a lifetime - through some of the most beautiful scenes that nature can throw at you and including 2 nights spent on the pickup bed, under the African sky.

I wish I could do that again. Dont remember the mileage, and dont really care how long it really was - it was over 2,500 kms of beautiful roads.
