Yeah! its Defender 130, very few people know about Defender 130. Its a LWB version of 110, a bit longer powered by a V8 or Tud5.
This particular one which I caught up was a 2.5 litre Tud5 developing roughly 85bhp . A 1986 model modded groundup into a camper by Alain and Jean. They were travelling all the way from France, for over a year.
Alain is an artist and a true autohead. he can be reached at Athinganos
Driving a LR is very easy. I drove a bit, first time a diesel LR, it seems very sluggish comparing it with wat I have.
Def130 was in pretty gud shape, and in stock form except for extra dampers to withstand the extra cabin at the back. Three Hella hallogen, hannibal shovel and mount kit, high-lift jack, LR bridge-plinth. custom underbody protection
Rear was custom everything, chemical toilet, gas stove, UV water purifier, and add to that JBL music system. And yeah 220 volt AC outlet/generator to run LCD projector.
The dude or his lady knew very little english, still they manage to travel more than half the world. Amazing!!

Responding to an ancient post with a four year old note.
I met up with these guys in Spiti, on the way to manali, way back in 2017.
Presumably the same folks, as it's highly unlikely to find another French couple in a defender with a home on its back.
Full points to them for continuing to do this.
