Similar numbers

I don't know if this is the right forum to post this. This morning while driving to work I noticed two very different vehicles - one a luxury sedan and other a SUV, bearing registration numbers of two different states, that shared the same last numbers.

Picture tells all

Nothing unusual. Many car owners with a sentimental attachment to a particular number or for numerological reasons, register their cars with same numbers although the initial series of letters vary. Ex: 7777, 5555, 1111, 999, 9, 99, 9999 etc. The letters before these will of course vary.
