Really sad to know that the family members are no more. May their souls RIP. May God give the lone survivor of the family plenty of strength to deal with the loss and to overcome it.

News like this rattles the very core of humanity in me. Why and how are never answered. Only thought that comes to mind is kill the person but sanity hits and the why and how are unanswered again.

Lost a friend in a similiar way 8 years back, see the driver happily driving around these days.

They showed the car in the tv, the drunk guy was driving a Innova. I also saw that the airbags were deployed in the innova, this must have saved the drunk. also lots of liquor bottles were strewn in the insides of the Innova. he must have bought his monthly supply with him.

Feel real bad for the sole surviving member of the family.

Today's paper mentioned that the lone survivor isn't even aware of the fact that his family is no more. He sure needs some huge support to overcome this tragedy. May God give him all the strength.

May the departed Rest In Peace and may God give all the strength to the survived one.

OT: Since the guy who caused this accident (or rather murder) is worried about his future, lets use him as a crash test dummy for all car tests.
Hanging until death would relieve the pain he inflicted to others very easily.

Those who drive drunk and kill others deserve to be shot. Of course, we shall do that if we live by Hamurabi's code. But we are a modern civilised society living under the rule of law, justice and due process. So, make the laws tougher, and more importantly, enforce them.

- If a person is drive drunk, the license is suspended for at least a year.
- If you drive on a suspended license, you spend time in jail.
- If you drive drunk and cause an accident, you spend an amount of time in jail proportionate to the damage caused by the accident, say at least five years if someone is killed.
- Death penalty is reserved in our country for the rarest of the rare "crimes". One of the defining features of crime is intent. You cannot prove intent in drunk driving, so do not waste time arguing about whether it deserves death penalty. Just put them in jail. That will reduce drunk driving.

It is quite straight

Gruesome! ECR has become a dangerous road. Unlike other highways this highway has some specific issues:

1. No lane divider
2. Drunken driving (as liquor is cheap in Pondicherry)
3. People are careless in driving due to having fun and watching the scenic beauty.
4. Adhoc stops. People suddenly stop their cars in anyplace and want to take a break.
5. High speed driving as the road quality is good. But unfortunately there are too many curves and blind corners that can cause accidents.
6. Unsafe at night times. The casuarina groves on both sides are wonderful hiding places for thieves.

Never travel by this road after 6PM. Even during the day be very watchful.

When normal people are even scared to bring one bottle of liquor from pondicherry (due to law restrictions), our man was not only coming with his monthly supply but also making sure he had his fill for the day on road.
