Absolute hogwash and I've my own doubts about his brother being a rally driver. The reason I went for a Green Storm in my Scorpio instead of K&N was because till now the K&N for Scorpio came without casing, thus sucking hot air from the engine bay. And cool air is manna from heaven for diesels.

I did mention that whoever sold him did did not advise him properly and then he mentioned that his brother is a rally driver and CAI will suck cold air only -- irrespective of where it is placed.

Question to the gurus here:
  • Is there ANY merit to the points mentioned by that chap?
In my personal opinion -- that chap was talking rubbish.

Agreed, thats a lot of bull from the owner apart from living a blissfull life in ignorance.

But, how does a CAI actually gets fitted? I mean, the exact location in the bay? I reckon instead of concentrating on this, we are just hammering that poor chap to hell

@mobike, the following would be a good example of a CAI. Notice how the air intake is 'as far as possible' from the hot engine/headers.

(taken from 1self elantra stage1 mod thread)

Another example would be: Again the 'air intake' is as far as possible from the hot engine area.

NOTE: The above examples are samples only and may not represent the best possible way to get a CAI done. There could be more better ways also for doing a CAI, so please feel free to share with examples.

Cheers,
