The daily routine of Hyderabad's monsoon continues ... it is about to start raining and the spread of darkness is an indication that the cloud burst today may be a copy of yesterday (5 odd cms in 2 hours). Time to run for cover (back home) ...
Friends ,
Finally date announced for fly over near Hitech City , Oct 2nd is the Opening day. GHMC spent 22 CR on this fly Over .Hope IT employees can save some more time with this fly over

Though the clouds looked ominous from the time of your post, the actual rain started only 5 minutes ago.
Hope you guys have hastily beat the retreat. I am WFH today, like most of my colleagues.
In Hi-Tech city, the rains have stopped but the skyline is quite cloudy and dark.
For some work, I had to travel from Raj Bhavan road to ECIL X Roads and it took me at 12 Noon about 20 minutes to cover the 22 Km distance. Normally it takes anywhere between 40-50 minutes.
All this thanks to the Ganesh Visarjan Public Holiday :)
Reached home just as the water levels on the access road started reaching dangerous levels again :Frustrati.
What made it worse was that the builder of the new bunch of apartments there has booked this bunch of heavy concrete mixer and bore drilling lorries which occupy half the road. So people on either side can't see who's coming from the other side and tend to "meet" each other in the middle of the puddle. So far so good (around mid-way between ankle and knee depth); any more water and this could prove to be "fatal".
Also I just realized that having a big car doesn't give you any special privileges (not saying that it should, personally, but the way the world moves and all that...). Today I "met" this auto at this narrow spot and he refused to budge and I had to get off the road and drive on the wrong side. Thankfully it's a known road so despite the puddle I knew it was safe.
Regards,
spadix
I went to work early today after dropping my kid at her school behind Lifestyle. I took the Panjagutta flyover after a long time from the Greenlands side.
I found lots of potholes at the end of the flyover, near the TOI office. I also found the divider being broken in that area to facilitate reverse direction traffic in the evenings. I wonder when that will be put into effect.
BTW, did any of you guys spot the new Porsche sign on the building after Chutney's and PWC on Rd # 36? That building used to house our old office and I noticed that signboard only because I looked at the building. I wonder when the showroom will be opened.

Yes. Yes. All the IT employees travelling towards KPHB/JNTU will reach much faster to the next jam - The under-construction Hitec city station flyover. :Frustrati
The opening of this flyover does not make any sense at all unless the other bottle-neck is cleared! Currently, It will just clear up the mess at cyber towers junction!

and thank God for that.
This will seriously improve my home-office-home trip.

OT: It has been kept in wraps for months and clearly visible in the evenings, when they switch on the lights. I have even spotted a new Panamera parked in the showroom.

Its all set to move the jam from the junction to the point where the flyover ends on the cyber towers side.
Heavy Rains lash the city again!
Expect huge traffic jams in the evening if the rain continues. I just had wonderful drive to work with nil traffic from Miyapur to Hitec City. Missed some puddles and took them at normal speed as the visibility was very very low!

Well, there was just a shower in Somajiguda/ Greenlands. The sky is still overcast.
Looks like the rain Gods are now targetting the outskirts.

We did not get much rains this side of the city (Somajiguda) but Hi-Tec City side was deluged at lunch time today. My car could not cross Shilparamam area while returning from Novotel to Somajiguda. Finally, it came back : Novotel-Kondapur-Nanakramguda-NarneRoad-JubileeHills-BanjaraHills-Khairatabad-RajBhawanRoad.
Today it was downtown Hyd that took a heavy lashing with heavy rains for more than an hour around 4 pm. I had to rush to the cellar and move my car to the upper level.
My wife took 90 minutes to commute from Mind Space to home, and the entire stretch from J Hills checkpost to home was in 2nd gear. I guess I'll get a single digit FE this time on the Waggie :).
I have to attend a company-sponsored dinner at The Park in an hour, and I guess I need to drive as nearly half of the 400 metres distance is filled with water, making walking impossible.:Frustrati
