Even Chinmaya Vidyalaya has declared a holiday tomorrow.

Following is the email we got from our Company's Admin Head reg Dec 10th:-
'All the students union in Hyderabad are planning a mass procession towards State Assembly from different locations favoring separate state for Telangana and Police has requested the general public not to travel on roads during the day time and also requesting vehicles coming from other states to stop entering the city tomorrow.

Last two days, I get to hear instances of antisocial elements stopping the vehicles in the night causing inconvenience for the commuters. \I am checking with other IT/ITES companies on the stand being initiated tomorrow and shall keep you posted.

This is a heads up to all of you and request all your managers to at least safe guard women folks by asking them to log out early and not to travel in the night or make some alternate measures. (Working from home)

I am working with transportation vendor to have back up / enough fuel for next two days and calling for additional escorts.

I shall provide you an update later part of the day. "

Well, I am at home! We were instructed to go home early and not to risk traveling tomorrow!
Jai WFH option!

BTW, did not find much traffic on the way back home, which was a surprise for me considering the time I left!

Talk is that pitched battles are expected between one set of hoodlums and another set of ruffians, as well as between both sets and the police. A fly on the wall says that certain wannabes are seeking to exploit the situation to the detriment of the government.

HPS Begumpet has declared a 'preparation holiday' tomorrow. Fuel seems to be available in plenty but expect bunks to be closed tomorrow (who wants an idiot to strike a match in a petrol bunk?). Expect trouble in front of colleges etc. and take diversions. Shops will be closed to prevent looting. Most shopkeepers and regular public I spoke to in the city today were giving choicest abuses in the most colourful language(s) to the whole political set-up.

Cheers,

Guys, I have a question:
I am working from home (night shift) this entire week, but need to go for a meeting at 930 pm tonight (930 to 11 pm).
Is it safe to drive tonight? I plan to drive back soon after the meeting and work from home for the rest of the shift.
What say, guys??

Whattzup folks----nobody coming to my rescue???

Anyways, since discretion is said to be the better part of valour, I pre-emptively sent out a mail to HR stating that I am not inclined to take the risk of driving to office just to attend a darn meeting, and asked them to re-schedule it to next week.

And as I'd apprehended, I've just got a pdf file from the Admin Head stating that there will be several traffic restrictions tomorrow, and many flyovers like Khairatabad, Masab Tank, Telugu Thalli, etc will be closed from 10 pm tonight till late tomorrow night.

FYI

While coming to office in the morning on the Raj Bhavan Road, a slightly middle aged person (about 50-ish) driving a ANHC abruptly cut me off inspite of me honking for his attention. Saw in the mirror that he was talking on the phone totally oblivious of whats happening around. I was so irked, overtook him and blocked his way and gave him my mindful.

Thankfully the guy being slightly old and may be matured, meekly said that wasn't on the phone and apologised.

Anyways this is a regular phenomenon, old guys driving with all ORVMs folded and driving at 20kmph on the right most lane.

Btw went out from Office to Patny centre. Roads empty but everything seems to be normal.

I really don't think there is any thing of much concern ,now that the central government has agreed for seperate Telangana state. The "Assembly chalo" procession has been converted to "Victory Rally" by the TRS and their supporters. So widespread vandalism and lawlessnes is ruled out. Traffic was as normal today in the morning as other day.
So there is nothing to get worried about.
But I am sad about the division of Andhra Pradesh.:(

From news it looks like we have to get prepared for more rallies...this time by Andhra and Rayalaseema supporters. The question of Hyderabad is also hanging in the air. Maybe it would be best if Hyderabad becomes an union territory and also capital of both Telengana and Andhra.

Iam devasted by this news. Here goes the upliftment and development in the can.

I think we should start a thread on how many think its a good thing or a bad thing for development of urban and rural AP.

Me too! I am apprehensive of the fallout on the IT sector if Hyd does not become a Union Territory and instead falls into Telengana hands.
If it becomes a UT, then fuel will become cheaper

if it doesn't, perhaps many would shift base to Vizag---Satyam, Wipro and few other companies like Kennexa have already established campuses there a few years back when TRS agitation began.

50 + MLAs have resigned. Expect a major agitation from Rayalseema and Coastal Andhra Folks in the days to come.

I don't understand the logic of bending over backwards to a party which didn't get the people's mandate either in Assembly or Parliament from Telengana. Heard rumours that the entire thing is being fuelled by YSJ for ulterior motives.

simple reason- muscle power and niusance value. Also, as always, there will be much more to this than meets the eye. methinks that this is just the beginning.the real battle will begin on the status of Hyderabad, and till that is solved, we can kiss goodbye to whatever little development activities were underway in the city.

Read in the news that Sonia Gandhi relented due to intelligence inputs that the maoists and naxalites are fuelling the rally and that it is no more a students rally. Intelligence was that due to presence of naxalites and goons in the rally there were good chances of rally goinn out of control and turning violent, thus leading to loss of lifes.
Even though now that the congress has promised a new state, they can't backtrack. I don't understand the very logic of integrating states after independence 50 years back, now that you are yourself dividing it.
Hope Hyderabad remains with Andhra, otherwise there will be utter chaos.

Looks like the topic of this thread has veered away instead of discussing potholes and road conditions of DC
