Ferrari Crash - 599GTB split into two

A man is dead and his passenger injured after a red Ferrari crashed into a light pole in Newport Beach, causing the vehicle to split in two. The violent crash occurred on Jamboree Road near Camelback Street just before 1 a.m. Wednesday and was reportedly witnessed by an officer in the area.

Police say the luxury Italian sports car crashed into a light pole, which toppled onto the car and split it in half. The driver was declared dead at the scene. His identity is not yet known. His female passenger was ejected in the crash. She was hospitalized, and her condition is not known.

Hours after the crash, the front portion of the Ferrari could be seen resting against a hillside several feet away with its lights still functioning. The car appeared to be a Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, an all-aluminum V12 with a top speed of 205 mph and a price tag of about $300,000. It's not yet known how fast the driver was traveling at the time of the crash or what caused him to lose control

A passenger is injured and the other driver is in jail on charges of DUI. Police say men may have been racing

Kinda confusing though, one source says driver is dead while the other says he's facing charges. Anyways, what a total waste of a great car

What a waste of such a lovely car and a life that cant be replaced. If only people used all that power on track and drive sedately on public roads.

Yep. The wheels probably led to it being called a 599 GTB.

However, the wheels also make me wonder if it was a 360 CS ?

Split in to two! I wonder what speeds he must be doing. What a loss of a great machine. RIP to the racer. There is an Icon in the Accidents in India thread that split in two.

Just coz it a Ferrari doesn't mean it cant be split into two or three! Hummer o so might have survived such a crash. And even a diamond can be split if you know its right spot.

People were irresponsible in this scenario.

Maybe because the names starts with F,lolz.Ferrari and ford. But that accident of the ikon was a trajic one.I have seen other ferrari accidents were its split into 2,3 or more.I guess it came into the wrong hands.
