I drive my Palio D, from TVM to COCHIN (NH47), full load of 5 ppl and luggage, every friday eve and back every monday morn. On the monday mornings around 100-110 is quite ok...but not always...so speaking on a realistic term, I voted for 81-100, which is more comfortable and safer.

the comfortable cruising speed is very much dependent on the car you drive, the road conditions and the traffic conditions.on a perfect highway(east coast road)with minimal/no traffic in my accent crdi,i would prefer to cruise happily at 100-110

For me cruising is something enjoyable and controllable, I never miss a chance to cruise in the range of 80+ in my Palio 1.6!

Hi. This is an excellent poll. Good idea Shan2nu!

It depends on the car and the roads.

When I'm cruising along Chennai-Bangalore sector, I cruise at 100-120. Few times I go upto 130-160 when I sense the road is straight and empty for a distance. The car is a Ford Ikon 1.6.

For the Santro, I took it only once on the ECR. I was doing 120 with three people onboard including me, and a light luggage as in for picnic. Wasn't that stable and was not offering good tyre grip. So I prefer 80-100 for that car, unless a good weight onboard, then upto 120.

I am generally a very passive driver. So, even if the road is absolutely empty and smooth, I may be caught cruising at 60 in my Petra.
However, if there is some traffic, I tend to get a little competitive and speed up. The car can comfortably do 140 or more, but with the kinds or roads we have and the kind of road users, one has to be too careful to call it 'cruising'. And anyway, the car sounds so exciting at 140, that adrenaline starts to flow and I jump out of the cruise mode and rush along.
Come to think of it, on the right day I quite enjoy a 35kmph cruise along the left lane in the city with everyone rushing past me. I love the way the car purrs gently, like Coochie my parents' cat back in Calcutta.

I presume 'comfortable' cruising speeds would depend on the driver too. Given the same conditions of car, tyres, road, traffic comfort levels could differ.

Holding a steady 140-160 on highways has been pretty much possible - on the NH-2 stretches I have driven on. However, I would tick 120-140kmph as a 'comfortable' relaxed crusing speed on my car - Baleno on 195s.

I prefer 100 - 120. No stress on engine. Car is in control easily on that speed on highways + better FE and comfort for others, rather than going 150+ and breaking hard and then going down to 80..

with the kind of roads and traffic present in our roads, i prefer a speed between 80-100 kmph for a comfortable drive....we don't have any super highway or express highway here and i haven't driven on one yet...so it may differ!

Voted for 141-160 when I am driving my Octavia 1.8TPi.
It would be in the region of 120-140 for my Elantra CRDi (195 section shoes).
