This is a really freaky occurrence, even though the cause is known.

Car loses all four wheels on highway
2 Jun 2009, REUTERS

ZURICH: A car traveling on a motorway in Switzerland lost all four wheels simultaneously, coming to an immediate halt in the middle of the
highway, police said on Saturday.

The car had just stopped and the passengers had changed from winter to summer wheels themselves, a common task in Switzerland where there is plenty of snow in winter, but used the wrong nuts when mounting the new set.

"When they then drove back on to the motorway, all of the wheels disconnected," St Gallen cantonal police said in a statement. "Luckily, no one was injured and no other vehicle was damaged."

This seems to be a classic case of "Do It Yourself" gone wrong

Yeah, I read this news article under "Oddly Enough New category" and couldn't help myself wondering how in the world did these guys fit in wrong size nuts.

what!!how is that possible.are there any pics.the car must have slided for a good distance beor coming to halt.scary..

I'm not sure if should offer condolances or laugh at such a uncanny coincidence.
But as long as there are no casualties or even minor injuries, I'd take the lighter part of it all.

Another entry into the amaaaaaaaaaaazing happenings catagory. Good to know that all were safe!!

An extension of "Dumb and the Dumber" , Lucky that they came out alive out of this foolishness.

Perhaps it will be a good idea if the wheel nuts had cotter pins!

Yes, of course! That was typed hastily with one hand, while eating lunch with the other! Post edited, thanks.

But for all the wheels to have come off at the same time is a little hard to believe. Maybe they came off one after the other.
