Controlled explosions to knock off loose rocks being carried out. Traffic stopped on both sides. Engines shut off & drivers standing outside kind of situation.

Full toll paid. Politicians fight over names.

Waiting to see how the BWSL name grabbing scene pans out.

The Expwy was blocked for about an hour. The resultant pile up too another hour to clear. It took 2 hours in the Ghats itself.

But I expect this to happen a lot. Most important part was that there was no prior intimation. When you pay money, and there is going to be a drop in Quality of Service, then the expectations is that you should be communicated about this.

The attitude was "where can they go"? Pardon the pun :-)

If such a major work is being done, they should advertise a week ago and warn everyone to avoid travelling on that day so that people are spared of hardships

I was driving back last evening from Pune to Mumbai and the road situation was better.

1. There were no blockages and traffic was smooth inspite of the heavy rains.
2. For certain sections where the rock has been blasted, one lane was diverted to the opposite side for LMVs. Traffic was little slow on this section, but I am not complaining.
3. There were many accidents due to skidding and lack of visibility. I saw at least 4 of them. Take care while driving at high speeds and on patches where water collects in pools.

On another points, I think that when we pay toll there should be a minimum Quality of Service that should be defined and for which we are entitled to.

Yesterday morning, I stopped for tea at the first rest stop after Mumbai end at the place where you can sit and have tea. I had foreign visitors with me. I was charge Rs 15 for the tea which came in small broken and chipped mugs with tea bags.

Also the entire outside space has been cramped with small vendors such are corn, CDs, books, Cakes etc etc. There was no place for people to negotiate and enter the restaurant.

Same situation has also happened in the opposite side when coming back from Pune end. Obviously some one is diluting the standards of rest stops without decreasing the prices.

The customer is being shortchanged.
