Bangalore outer ring road Kadubeesnahalli junction horrific crash 19 Aug 2009

Hi all,

On my way to office, I was stuck in a horrible traffic jam on the outer ring road, coming from sarjapur junction towards marathalli. The whole stretch took me 1.5 hours by two wheeler!

Near Kadbisarahalli (hope I got the speeling right) junction, I saw wrecks of a truck carrying sand, a goods auto, a scorpio and a two wheeler. The whole length of the truck was on the divider, the front axle had borken off. The goods auto was reduced to ribbons. I could not get a good look at the other vehicles involved in the crash.

Unfortunately, I could not take pictures because I don't have a camera phone anymore. Does anyone know what happened? Looked like a terrible, terrible pile-up.

Rohan

My colleague has just come to office and is swearing about the same incident. It took him 1.5 hours too to come to office.

Heard there was a fatality and it was the auto driver who lost his life.

Hmm correct. One more colleague who reached office now confirmed this. The three wheeler milk van driver was killed on the spot. People who left for office @9:45 are reaching now.

Heard it was the milk supplier for our office. On a second note I guess this should be moved and merged with accidents in india thread.

News is there are three fatalities. The auto carrier was torn to three pieces.

Its Kadubeesanahalli.
Heard it happened at 6:00 AM ! The truck is visibly on the median, don't know why the traffic is so jammed though. Maybe rubber necking which is slowing down the traffic.

I was on my way near Forum enroute to ORR when my admin called me. I immediately changed direction and went to my airport road office. Had a meeting at 9.00 am. MY President was on the con call and he was still stuck in his car. Some folks turned and went back home

I was stuck for more than 2 hrs from 830-1030 between RMZ Ecospace and Prestige Tech Park. It was one of those days when all service roads, rubble roads and the main road were totally jammed. This was personally for me the mother of all jams i have been in ever.

It looks like the truck and auto t-boned into each other. And in the process ripped off a traffic signal post. Front Left hand side of truck seems to have landed on the auto. Auto, actually the piagio cargo types, is totally ripped off.

The mess is cleared now. It took 10-15 mins from marathahalli to my office.
