Top Speeds!

About 8 years ago, my driver drove me to Kolar from Bangalore at a tick over 140kph indicated on my Matiz - and it was raining heavily ...

.

....yes I drive on my own now ... and I hit about 130kph on B'lore Mysore highway recently.

Did a steady 145kmph on a '89 VFR 400 couple of weeks back on BIAL road. It wasnt early enough in the morning to try anything more, though the old horse had lots more in her.

Smooth sailing for a '89 bike. After that I know that a Kwaker 250 (Top wack of 176kmph) is all I need now to satisfy my bike needs.

First Cars - 120 on my Fiat , 110 on My Maruthi Omni ,170 In Esteem ,
170 in Lancer, 201 in Cedia
Indian Bikes
95 -110 on a Yezdi , 85 on Hero Honda CD 100 , 110 on Pulsar 180 ,and 124 on ZMA
Imported Super Bikes
255 on a CBR 600 F4i, 270 on Honda CBR 1000 Fire Blade, and 290 on
Suzuki GSXR 1000

While on the way to Yelagiri i reached 193 kmph in Verna Crdi Sx ABS in Bangalore Highway and 145+ in Hyundai i10 Magna both in stock Tyres.

my top speeds (ALL SPEEDO) would be.....

275kph - Audi S8 (unrestricted)
240kph - BMW 740 IL (2003)
180kph - Toyota Corola 1.8

all these were in Muscat

i was once a passenger in a 1998 Lamborghini Diablo @ 210kph

in india,

140kph - Ford ikon
135kph - in my modded Pulsar 180

and ofcourse,

900 kph at 33000ft in Airbus A320 (passenger ofcourse)

Some crazy figures you got there manjunath. Could you probably post a brief comparo between the stability on the firblade and the gixxer while you were doing the above mentioned speeds?

I went up to 150 KMPH in my Fabia TDI. I did it on my way to Chennai near Vellore. Up to 130 it was smooth. After that the engine lost its glory. Engine noise was very loud. But the vehicle was very stable with the stock tyres.

the gixxer is way ahead of hondas stability, it feels lighter and you always like entering exiting corners at higher speeds, makes you feel in control. my personal ride experience.

While coming back from Alibag to Panvel - on NH had a sprint with Merc C230 or C250 ( dont remember which one) ~ 150.
The fun stuff was acceleration - Vtec proved its might against the Merc. Ofcourse since it was NH with traffic, Merc couldn't go upto its top speed.
Vtec 1 - Merc 0

Then on expressway after Lonavla, there was this BMW 3 series car.
Gave it a good fight - however the Beemer obviously had more top speed. I could manage 185.

I realized something, however, top speed is bull - its the acceleration that gives the "high".
