Here is a click of my Santro's speedo at 160 kmph, my top speed ever. This supersedes my earlier posted top speed of 158 kmph.
Image taken on Mumbai-Pune Expressway, just after the Kamshet tunnels on the way to Pune.
Sorry for the poor quality image -- best I could do with my mobile in one hand and steering wheel in the other.

just be sure of what ur capabilities are dont overdo urself. also make sure u look out for some open stretch its better to put urself at risk than injure some innocent soul. no offence there but had to put it this way.

arent most cars limited to about 155MPH (especially the rental ones for safety and insurance purposes it MIGHT be even less)? not including the porsches ferraris etc.

Was it worth it risking your life for a photograph.

No one here is going to doubt you if you say you did 165. Which is already risky on car like Santro.

Planning to keep myself down to about 130 kmph in future and no speedo clicks (this time, the road was empty and straight and I already had my mobile ready, but still it is unsafe as you say).

Nt done it myself but have seen my 'driver' do it.... i mean hitting 160 in a 7 year old zen.... as silly as it may sound, i hav actually seen the zen speedo reach the maximum(160kmph) mark on the mumbai-pune expressway! It was unmodified at that time! God knws how that guy managed it?

Dude.. I duno what are the laws when driving on an international license but if you were on US license and a cop pulled you over... your license will be suspended and they will also lock you up for endangering others on the road.
You must be crazy to think about doing 165 on public roads... i suggest go to a race track and speed all you want.

Oh btw if you pass cars at those high speeds... someone with a cell phone can easily dial #77 and report your aggresive driving, and my friend trust me if you get caught doing anything about 100... you will be in serious trouble.

I'm pretty sure about my capabilities and for sure no 1 will want to risk any innocents life. Not me atleast.

FYI, i speed up only when there are no cars around and i dont dare to overtake anyone in that speed.

I am drivin in US license infact and i know the rules pretty very well. (think so)

How can anyone think that i'm goanna speed up when there is a high traffic. Surely 101 is mostly the needed freeway for all, but i tried speedin up only when i found its safe and no1 around me.

Thanks aniways

GUYS GUYS GUYS, DONT WORRY.. ME AINT GOANNA CROSS THAT 165 IN A FREEWAY LIKE 101 OR 91 ... .....

Seen some morons doing high speeds and loose control CROSS the central reservation and slam into an oncoming car. The most recent was a GMC Suburban driven by a Kuwaiti doing around 150 crossing the central reservation and slamming on top of a Mitsubishi colt being driven by a Bahraini. The Colt driver his wife and 3 yr daughter killed.

120mph on I65 in Indiana at about 3pm in a Mercury Milan
120mph on I94 in Chicago at 1 am in a Pontiac Grand Prix
150mph on I57 in Illinois at 5:30am in a Cadillac CTS.

All speeds in the last month.
The CTS would have gone faster but I ran out of clear road.
