Bangalore traffic is getting worse day by day.
Anyone here encountered traffic leading Pheonix Mall to watch Asha Bhosle on Saturday?
I heard it was a total mess.

- Saturdays and Malls scare me
- Saturdays, Malls & Whitefield (Especially Phoenix Market City and VR Bengaluru) make me go mad
- Then, Saturdays, Malls, Phoenix Market City and Metro Construction - How better can one ruin their otherwise beautiful weekend
Thankfully, Electronics City, a place where I am associated for 10+ years for occupational reasons doesn't feature in the list - Thanks to some well managed traffic within EC itself (special mention to ELCITA) and multiple 'escape' routes.

May be not as bad as Whitefield, Hosa road jn and Kudlu gate jn traffic lights are seeing long queues irrespective of day or time. The blame is on the closure of service roads and making of service roads one-way as part of metro work.

If one wants to experience go karting of all sorts, come to Bommanahlli junction. Here we have vehicles coming/going from/to the following destinations

1. Vehicles coming from Madiwala side either go straight towards E City direction or take a right turn to Begur/Bommanahalli
2. Vehicles coming from Begur/Bommanahalli turn left to go towards Madiwala and beyond, turn right to go to either Mangamanapalya or E City
3. Vehicles from E city go straight towards Madiwala and beyond, take left to go towards Begur/Bommanahalli or take a U turn to go to Magamanapalya

The last but not the least are the vehicles ( 2 wheelers) coming from Mangamanapalya going either towards Begur/Bommanahalli or towards Madiwala and beyond. They accomplish this by coming in the wrong direction. The only difference I see here is unlike the regular go karting where people bang into each other, at this junction it is a case of near hit/miss but eventually vehicles scrape through.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Hebbal flyover has stollen the traffic championship tag from KR Puram right now.
Silk Board jokes seems outdated now.

Guess you missed this reality? Posted something on same lines with a Timelapse video of the same here (Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation).

It is indeed a mess and getting absolutely worse.

Until the metro construction gets over, I think one should resist going to these malls. We once headed to the Phoenix Mall only to be stuck in standstill traffic for one hour. Took the next U Turn and came back home!

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

I remember going to PVR Phoenix mall to watch Bahubali while I was in Bangalore for more than a year. It took 2.5 hrs for us to reach there thanks to Bangalore traffic. We rather enjoyed our journey as my friends came from delhi and we were like we had a short outstation trip from delhi to agra.

Somehow I was lucky that I stayed near my office which was in Global Village near mysore road. My apartment was Mantri Tranquil on kanakpura road and it hardly took 10 minutes to reach office by car.

Me and my wife loved each n everyday we spent in Bangalore. The traffic was manageable on weekends specially Sunday evening. Despite of traffic condition and other shortcomings in Bangalore the weather is so good that you forget everything.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

I had a good time going to Market City. Went to watch Deadpool 2 in the 4D screen. Took about 20 minutes to get there from Gopalan Signature (dropped my bike off and went in my friend's car) and about 20 minutes to get back. Not bad at all.

This was a Friday evening for a 930 show. There was more than enough time to grab a beer at Chilli's and something to eat.

HSR to Ecospace is a bigger joke. Now a days traffic piles up right till the Mantri apartments opp to Agara Lake. Yesterday, traffic was very light from Jayadeva till Silkboard, but it was the usual crawling for 30 mins from Agara to Ecospace

Did the designated driver also consume alcohol? Did you drive the bike back from Gopalan Signature in the night? If yes to either of these questions, then I would suggest please avoid consuming alcohol and driving and advising your friend to do so. Thanks.

I was driving, and no, I didn't. Wasn't that obvious?

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Guys, I have been thinking of this for quite sometime now. All of us at some point or the other have come across a fellow driver / rider who would be bullied upon by either a bunch of Auto-Rickshaw or the Ola/Uber folks. Reason? There is no right or wrong here - it is just that their unity is good and they can afford to bully around or even abuse the other party despite the latter being at no fault. If an Auto is seen parked by the side of the road having a verbal argument / fight; dozens of other Autos either slow down to find out or some of them even come over to assist the fellow Auto guy. How many of us who own private cars or bikes do the same? Private vehicles have the largest share on the road - there is no denying this but unfortunately unity wise we are just nowhere in the game.

No, I am NOT for anyone getting off a bike/car and set out to show physical strength. Just slowing down to find out what is the situation and just being present at the scene helps a great deal. Imagine anyone of us being bullied for no/trivial while going out with Family - specially with kids on-board. Food for thought guys, I feel it is time we pull up our socks and stay united, help each other on the road.

All you would end up doing is contribute to the already messy traffic. Either you step out and jump in and take sides with the private car (not necessary a physical fight), or you move on (maybe call the cops while you move on).

Tell me about it! Am facing this daily now since last Friday as my son's school started and we have to self pick up and drop for the first two weeks. Its really horrible mess. Now every morning I have to drive from ecospace to HSR to drop him at his school, wait there for school to get over and then come back to ecospace!
