Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Need advice. I came to my workplace around 7am from Hosur via Carmelaram. Is the situation still bad? Can I return back to my home in Hosur via backside of Embassy tech Village - Carmelaram road? Picked a bad day to come to work today!!

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

History just repeats, year after year - despite lots of money spent on (repeated) repairs, improvements etc., not to mention the woes it brings to commuters each time the work is taken up (we give in with the hope that this will be fixed for good, so it's worth the trouble).

The end result is the same, sad story of Bangalore's crumbling infrastructure

Just thank God that the outer ring road metro line is elevated and doesn't run at road level!

True.

And we keep ranting year after year, for the past 5 years:

Yes, go via back road and do not get onto ORR. Even traffic is piling up there as well.

And start NOW.

Even the back road is showing heavy traffic now. Check gmaps. You have no much choice, choose one of them with a toss.

Good part is, only that area and its surroundings are clogged. Once you exit, it may be a breeze to Hosur.

Disposable income.

I noticed this trend recently too esp around HSR, Koramangala, Bellandur area, observed the drivers, most were kids (to me) in their early/mid 20s.

My guess is, it's freshers getting 40LPA+ packages (during the startup funding boom cycle) and having the disposable income to buy faux SUVs and fix any dings, instead of the usual route of buying a cheap used car to learn, buying a small car to get confident, and then finally upgrading to a bigger car.

Stuck now near gear school. Seems like a long way home!

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Spent 2 hours trying to reach Prestige tech park, ORR from Kudlu gate junction . And I start in off-peak hours(12:30PM), reached after 2:30PM. Normally it takes 30-35 mins. Funny thing is my driver already knew the ORR condition and hence avoided it. He took the sarjapur road as that was better when he had just dropped another employee before picking me up. But looked like everyone thought the same and we got stuck even there. Good thing I got to see this side of bangalore, never been there earlier. Silver lining?

Noticed Wipro SJP gate entry was all submerged only 1 entry was usable. For another colleague it took 3 hours for 9kms from Whitefield to Prestige tech park. Now sitting in office we are wondering when would be a good time to start our return journey.

Just got this pic on WhatsApp. Looks like near ecospace skywalk.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

What a day it has been for folks around East Bangalore and ORR. And it isn't over yet.
The Tech corridor of the Silicon Valley of India brought to its knees by a night of showers. I would be honest, they were pretty heavy rains last night but why is it that the same area gets inundated every time? How many times in my life have I seen the ORR in front of Ecospace flooded!

I am so glad I chose to WFH today. Many colleagues got stuck today. Stories of 5kms in 2 hours, or the one about trying to get to work, giving up, turning back, coming home> total distance covered 7kms, time taken 3 hours; are flying around in Whatsapp groups.

And just look at the traffic at 7:30PM. its still blood red on ORR. The Bermuda Triangle of Marathahalli, Bellandur and Gear School road never disappoints because at the core of it are the latest and greatest Tech parks in history - Ecospace, Ecoworld and ETV. World Class infrastructure at the Core!
Also, the Bermuda line of terror called Gunjur-Varthur-Whitefield road.

Add to that, one of the biggest elite residential complex, Adarsh Palm Retreat.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

My Verna has gone for repairs and has been stuck at the dealer due to a parts shortage for 10 days now and hence have been using bus/ cabs for the commute.

Never before have I been gladder to use the Bus. From Mahadevpura to Kalamandir took 15 mins. Took another 45 mins to cross the next 1.5 kms or so. Got down and just walked the remaining distance to Prestige Tech park. When I used the skywalk to cross the ORR I could see the bus had barely budged some 150-200m in the time I had walked 1.5 km. Should have gotten down at Marathalli underpass itself, would have saved another 15-20 mins and the weather was good enough to walk 4 kms.

Can only wonder what I would have done if I had used my car. Would have taken at least another hour for the last 2.5 kms.

No idea mate. Might as well be, as bellandur lake apparently was overflowing. Not sure though.

Anyways started from prestige tech park at 10PM and was stuck on Doddakanelli road for 1.5hours almost for a meagre 5kms that late in the night. Can we officially declare 30th August,2022 as the worst traffic day of Bangalore in 2022?
