Sir, only 3 crores for an apartment is great deal for lot many of the folks. They do not care if it is on the lake bed or the rajakaluve(interlinking canal)

The Sringeri Guru will be visiting there for an event today along with VP Shri Jagdeep Dhankar. It's related to chanting of Shlokas.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Experienced my share of pain due to an errant two wheeler on the wrong side. We both stopped and I did veer to the right to let him pass. Service road near Kodigehalli signal also has a terrible broken patch which I felt (after the dashcam footage) made the two wheeler move gingerly but not enough for a safe gap.

A personal regret is that I did not factor the protruding side step although I cleared the handlebars. I heard a metallic sounding screech and there it was, a deep gash on the front left door of my Octavia.

Just looked at the rider accusingly (made not an iota of difference for him I am sure ) and kept going rather than get off the car, hold up traffic and create a scene. An expensive repaint but I cannot stand the sight of it

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

I can understand the pain. Such scratches are right on the heart along with car. Many people don't understand but it gave me sleepless nights until I got my car repainted which suffered incident.

I suggest you try the following before repainting:

1) Gently, but firmly, buff out the scratch (vertically) with rubbing compound so as to remove any debris. It will result in a dull patch, but the scratch will be much less noticeable

2) Use liquid silicon polish to restore the shine around the scratch

3) Use black wax to conceal the scratch and allow the wax to dry (harden) in the sun

4) Use a spray on wax friendly ceramic sealant to finish

This is how I keep my Black Ertiga (Maruti Ertiga : Official Review) in pristine condition.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

It’s the season of dense fog in the mornings with very poor visibility. I went on an early morning drive and visibility was very poor on Old Madras Road after Hoskote and continued on the STRR as well all the way up to Devanahalli and beyond.

Drive safe, stay safe!

A few flights from BIAL were diverted yesterday (Sunday) due to low visibility on account of dense fog.

The Big, Bad Bully on the Bangalore Ring Road

Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation-2.png
Image is representational only

It is surprisingly how many buses registered in Arunachal Pradesh & Nagaland are plying on the Bangalore ring road. They are an absolute nuisance on the road (and are in no way contributing to the toad tax in the state apparently).

I had to travel, rather unfortunately, from EC to Marathalli during the evening rush hour and was surprised at the number of these buses plying at 7pm. They put the BMTC and autos to shame in terms of bullying other road users. Was behind one particular AR registered one (IIRC Jabbar travels) from Silk Board till Bellandur and boy was he in a rowdy mood. Stopping bang in the middle of the road, spewing black smoke all around and over speeding in the open sections. I saw their website and they do not operate any route between Karnataka and Arunachal.

What was infuriating was the BTP, giving an open hand to these law breakers and bullies. Again, their core concern seemed to be stopping soft targets i.e. out of state white number plates (saw a coupe of MH and 1 HR vehicles stopped just after the Iblur junction, hopefully they had broken some traffic law and weren't just being penalized for visiting Bangalore), but these bullies driving an 8 ton battering ram have no fear of the law.

It is shameful to see how certain sections of the society are given a free hand on the roads with the law abiding, tax paying mango people are the most harassed in all institutions where the government in involved.

I'm guessing it's like in the case of the significant percentage of high-end luxury vehicles with PY numbers, it's got to do with some road tax advantage with registering vehicles in those states?

Of course the cops are only worried about harassing out-of-state vehicles belonging to individuals. The wealthy law-breakers/benders always get a free pass.

This is true as well. But unlike private vehicles, these buses need to have a fitness check every year and pay the tax quarterly / seat, AFAIK. So that would require them to travel to the registered RTO every year, a few thousand KMs away. For sure, that won't be happening. Which leads me to believe that a good % of them aren't even fit enough to ply on the road, let alone be drive as rashly as they are.

My biggest gripe with them is the blatant rule breaking and sympathy they receive from the BTP. Not once are they stopped in any of the special drives to check DUI, PUC, insurance and what not. The moment any such thing happens, these guys have the unity, political backing and infrastructure to bring the city to a standstill (they kind of anyways do, plying during rush hours)

BTP has always had a great reputation for being very sympathetic to anyone who can pay for the privilege! It's ordinary citizens who bring their personal vehicles across states for legitimate work reasons who see the unsympathetic side.

Looks like a well-oiled scam operating everywhere, of course with the connivance of the RTO and traffic police.

"Operators from Mysuru have their contract carriage buses with a seating capacity of 21, 33, 50 etc. registered in States like Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Daman and Diu, making use of the very low All India permits. “If we pay ₹1.08 lakh once every three months in Karnataka for the All-India permit for a 33-seater, a vehicle with registration codes of other States would have paid only ₹90,000 for an entire year,” said Mr. Arun.

Though the contract carriages with registration codes of other States are not allowed to pick up passengers from Mysuru, they were booking passengers from the city “illegally” while the Transport Department officials turn a blind eye to the violation, he contended.

The transport department is undertaking a special drive against buses with more than permissible length that are registered in Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and other states but plying in Maharashtra.

The huge amount of fees to be paid in the state is what attracts bus owners to the northern states where the annual tax is low. The tax is Rs 4 lakhs per year in Kerala. This is around Rs 7 lakh in Tamil Nadu and Rs 8 lakh in in Karnataka

At the same time, the tax is Rs 45,000 in Nagaland and Rs 25,000 in Arunachal Pradesh"
