Ask an ad agency to come up with a funny and catchy song denouncing people who go the wrong way, so anyone doing that will hear other people sing that to them! Things like that.
+1 to this.

That's the Vietnam model. Has worked wonders in traffic offense reduction; but the local populace (especially the lower/working segments) are not at all happy.

But agree - we definitely will be ending up with a similar model eventually.

Remember when the govt. briefly implemented stiffer fines? 10k for drunk driving, 5k for driving without helmet, etcetera?

People created a huge hue and cry and politicians gave in. Make the fines stiffer and you'll see people following rules. Just like how people follow rules in Singapore, Japan etc. At least, I'd like to believe so.

Nothing has changed in last few years in India. Commercial vehicle owners were at forefront of agitations when the fines were increased, as if they have a right to break traffic laws. Whenever the fines will be increased, there will be similar agitations and roll back.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

We have enough rules. But very few who know them. Even fewer who follow them. And lesser said about the ones who are responsible for it, the better. Then, has anyone heard about civic sense?

Look at how in our janata makes it worse. All they had to do was wait as tarring of the road was in progress. I chose to abide by the workers who requested me to wait to avoid jamming. I obliged. From the other side, a bus driver obliged. Was a matter of less than ten minutes.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Returning back form Mahadevapura.

I left at 5 and it took me 90 min to get back. To add to the congestion on Old Madras Road, our finest have blocked off the entry from SV Road to Murphy Road where half the traffic separates. So, instead, a road splitting into two, the narrow SV Road from Ulsoor to Trinity is jammed with twice the traffic that it normally handles.

The Wall Endures Bangalore Traffic's Wrath

Seems like even local superstars are not spared from Bangalore's notorious traffic. Rahul Dravid, the flagbearer of the gentleman's game, had to resort to streetside pettiness for a collision with a commercial 3W.

Perhaps he didn't receive the superstar treatment because he was in a humble Hyundai (rough guess from the picture / video) instead of the regular black windowed Range Rover etc. Not sure of whose to blame here, but from what I have seen him on the field and his public persona, he would have apologized and paid out the damages if he was at fault. Maybe I am wrong!

I for one would have been chuffed to meet him (even given the odd circumstances), thanked him for his contributions, calmly settled any dues if necessary, maybe asked for a selfie and moved on

Is it normal for people in Bangalore to just bump into Rahul Dravid on roads and give no reactions? In the video that surfaced online, all passerby seem to be just carrying on as it is nobody's business

There was some talk that it is actually an Ad shoot for Cred. There was an earlier ad with cred with Dravid shouting and screaming some years back.

All mainstream media has carried it, but I think it maybe an ad shoot and this is a marketing strategy. Only that one small clip is seen. If it real I am sure there may be multiple variants and versions.

That is indeed a facelifted first generation Hyundai Creta (2018-2020) of probably the top SX(O) variant. I am just guessing here but he probably didn't pay attention to the engine oil

I am not a native Kannada speaker, but based on my limited Kannada knowledge, it appears that Dravid is saying “why did you brake suddenly?” to which the auto driver says “the vehicle in front stopped suddenly”. Just based on this it appears that Dravid might have rear ended the auto.

Kannada speakers, please confirm the above.

Well, I have heard so and have personally been party to this as well.

A few months ago, my wife and I bumped into him at the veterinary hospital we took our dog to for a check up. We saw the name “Rahul Dravid” as one of the pet owner name in the waiting list on the TV screen in the waiting room. We just assumed it cannot possibly be THE Dravid, but lo and behold, The Wall walked down the stairs with his wife, clad in just regular clothes and we were totally stunned to see him. We just kept staring at him with our mouths open when he walked past us, but not a single person bothered him. And rightfully so.

There was a meme I saw in social media in my regional language which said: The poor rickshaw guy probably didn't know who he was arguing to.. Mr. Dravid could have stood there for the whole day!

He used to live in Epsilon (he's moved out now I believe) which is in my neighbourhood. There is an FNS (Friendly Neighbourhood Supermarket) in the vicinity. My wife has bumped into him a couple of times there. Very down-to-earth fellow is what she tells me. Like, going "after you, ma'am" at the billing counter etc.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

The wall also ends up doing usual kind of thing that we also do. Bump into an auto/E-rickshaw who just suddenly braked or took a sudden turn & shout at them for causing damage and after wasting time with these people to make them understand their mistake, then leave.
