Hi, I am intrigued - which app is this? Is this near real-time feed and how does it get the information of flooding in various areas of BLR?

The app is called Bengaluru Megha Sandesha from KSNDMC. Earlier the reporting of rains and inundation was 30 mins after rains, now the reporting has increased to few hours after the rains.

Traffic trouble for CBD as Residency Road stretch shut for white-topping

Was catastrophic on Saturday. Shudder to think what will happen when Joseph's and Bishop Cottons reopen.

Rode via this road a while ago. Traffic is being diverted on both the sides and they reach the brigade road signal from either side.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

https://www.timesnownews.com/bengalu...icle-151669897

So more than half the city (primarily the "newly" built east and north) with certain pockets in other parts of the city is under water.

The article could have said "IT corridor and access to KIA" waterlogged. Avoid all kinds of travel to / from work today. I guess would have been applicable to half the city.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, but these idiots expect us to believe that they can build tunnels. Just look at the audacity here --> https://bangaloremirror.indiatimes.c.../121219283.cms

The article mentions that they will be able to charge us toll soon. Perhaps they mean a different definition of soon, measured in decades .
Or maybe toll will be charged irrespective of the road being built or not. When under construction highways can have tolls, why not envisioned tunnels?

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

There was a proposal to build two flyovers going across the city few years back. Now they have replaced that with one tunnel.

It was heavy rain almost through the night from 8pm to 5 am and I had to come to office to Manyata from Mysuru road. Not bad traffic and only within Manyata there was slow traffic !

The fact that it rained during off traffic hours was a saving grace. Anything like that during daytime would have created a havoc.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

The city is an absolute mess today! The silk board signal was closed from BTM side and the entire traffic was being diverted to the new flyovers due to waterlogging and there were 4-5 cranes and JCBs to clear the debris and garbage.
Sad to see the people who have to walk in the garbage and muck to either catch a bus or reach their office.
We definitely need better garbage management along with the road infrastructure.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

ignore the political angle, but see the situation. Lots of water clogging around city, please consider doing WFH for a couple of days if possible. Twitter has lot of info on bangalore rains, refer to it before you plan your journey.

This totally knobbles my commute, time to switch back to the Metro. Downside is that I cannot reach office early now.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Absolutely pouring down in Bengaluru today. I hope those working from office today either left early or are on the way home. If not, you might want to start before the roads are literally inundated.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Made it from South Bangalore to Bellandur in just 40 minutes today, starting at 7 AM. Given the back to back days of 100 mm rainfall, I was pleasantly surprised to find minimal waterlogging on the roads both yesterday and today. I had braced for the worst carrying a spare set of clothes, a full tank of fuel, and some munchies but thankfully, none of it was needed.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

No let up in rains. Wouldn't go out at all today. Yesterday, the Hebbal junction was the least traffic I have ever seen around 5pm. After that Gorguntepalya etc was as usual traffic.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

FWIW: Commute from Vydehi Jn(Whitefield) to HSR Layout - 1hr by car, 8:20 - 9:20am today

No BMTC buses were in sight, seems they have drastically reduced frequency due to the mess at Silkboard

Rain was not too heavy, moderate drizzle only, and no severe waterlogging on the ORR stretch, although Dollars colony etc. are reported to be totally inundated.

Are we going to go global "Brand Bengaluru" with this ? Add to this, if they build some obscure tunnel, we will have to be airdropped it seems.
