fingers are always pointed at the bmtc, cabs and riks but i saw so many IT folks in 2/4wheelers doing horrendous mistakes at this rate all the "metros" will be a hell!

people have become so inconsiderate that they care a damn about others, the place i live used to be a sleepy and disconnected, thanks to the unplanned development today loads of apartments have cropped which intern has got 100s of vehicles plying on a narrow road during the peak hours, situation has got so bad that if one has no place to walk and if one tried to he may be hit by a 2 or 4wheeler and most of them are the IT folks...
You sure? Did you stop and ask each and everyone if they work in the IT sector? What's with the attack on the IT folks? Just because someone is carrying a backpack with an MNC's logo or have a company sticker on their car doesn't necessarily mean that person works in the IT field.

Yes, its the educated lot that breaks traffic rules more often than not. Period.

Chill dude even i belong to the same field, yes its based on an assumption as majority of the workforce is related to IT directly or indirectly.

Can give an example, i work for an MNC and have noticed many IT folks dont understand the concept of "Q" maybe its near acces counter or in food courts, they just barge in! the same idiots will create a ruckus on road when they are riding/driving!

yea many of the educated(looking, as i dont want someone to raise a point what made me think if the person was educated or not) who are used to breaking rules and i have put my points based on what i have noticed, period!

This was at Sarjapur road - ORR junction yesterday. Look at the black Accent (ignore other cars). He sports team BHP sticker and breaks rules like this!

If I am about to take a "U" turn to my right, then where should I expect the "No U turn" sign board to be? Is it on the right side of the road OR on the left side of the road?

I was fined for taking a "U" turn to my right when there was no "No U turn" sign board. However there was one on the left side of the road.

For all practical purposes the sign definitely needs to be on the right (on median/divider) but I don't know how our motor vehicles act defines the location for these traffic signs.
Seems like this particular one can be challenged in court but do you have the pateience and perseverence to take it to court ?
EDIT: Where was this ? Maybe it'll help many of us watch out for this one.

It is in the "V" junction which connects the roads on either side of Forum Mall, Koramangala. I was coming from the side where Audugodi Police station, Tata-Docomo office are located. I wanted to enter Forum and in the signal opposite to forum there was a "No U turn" sign-board so,I proceeded to the next signal which is the "V" junction. Here there was no "No U turn" sign board hence I took a "U" and traffic police was happily waiting for me. Couple of bikers were also caught and everyone's argument was why there is no sign board on the right side of the road. But the traffic police was not willing to listen.

Note: By the way, I was not blocking any traffic.

Was there traffic coming from the opposite side? If yes, then you cannot take a u-turn into oncoming traffic. Sign or no sign. But if a right turn is allowed there, but not a u-turn, then the sign needs to be there on the median.
Please dont ask me for where it says so in a rule book. This is just what i follow, assuming it would make sense.

There is no right turn from that signal to go towards Dairy circle. You have to take U turn in the next signal (near petrol bunk).

In that case, Arun, mate, you dont really need a sign to tell you that you cant take a u-turn. At least on a main road like Hosur Road.
I think another case where a no u-turn sign is a MUST, however, is when there is a cut in the divider, and no right turn. I remember the cut in front of SPAR on Bannerghatta road used to have the most ignored No U Turn sign, until the authorities took pity on it and took it down.

There was no traffic from opposite direction because it was a green signal for the vehicles coming from dairy circle/stapples towards madiwala. Also, I think those vehicles have a option to take "U" turn to their left just before this signal. Hence I am not blocking them as well.

This is the first time for me in this road and hence I was looking for the sign boards, unfortunately it was placed on the left side of the road.

Ok. Didn't know this part. But a sign board will definitely help the first timers because when someone in front of you takes a "U" turn casually then you tend to follow them because already there is no sign board. All they need to do is, put it on the right side instead of the left side.

This is a road which I take every day and see that 99% of vehicles will crossover the stop line, turn full right blocking the right lanes. The only way to take this turn is to go on the extreme left, and turn right, as practiced here! I dont think we will ever learn to respect stop lines and lane discipline.

Shoot i forgot about that part (one in bold)
In that case, i agree with you. Signboard should have been on the median.
Try posting on BTP's facebook page and see if you get a reply.

Sure, I will post it in the BTP's facebook page and also in their web site, there is an option to write complaints/suggestions.

But, when they get green signal, they can take left turn towards Koramanagala/Raheja Arcade side hence there is no U turn! They have a left turn little ahead of signal and the tree in between, blocking the view! Hence, U turn should not be allowed, which is the case, though where to put the sign board is questionable.

@Amitoj: You did a wonderful job as a good samaritan which we seldom find now. Hats off to your gesture.
