The police were clearing the truck as I was crossing the place around 5:30 pm. Two cranes have been pressed into service. Traffic is snarled up right from Kasturi Nagar to Horamavu.

What is this new funda of opening gaps in the median here and there, and put barricades for vehicles to take U-turns ?

The first I saw was near Graphite India. And now a similar stupid thing has come up on the Marathalli bridge !!
I don't know what happens during the day, but even at 11pm at night, there is chaos with everyone taking U-Turns there and blocking straight moving traffic, and traffic coming from opposite side !

That U turn is entirely avoidable, since further down, near spice garden bus stop, there is enough place for even buses to make U turn under the bridge.

BTP should make the Marathalli bridge, a 2-Way Signal. One signal for vehicles coming from Kundanahalli, and another for vehicles coming from Old Airport.
Let whoever take left, right, U-Turn, etc when the signal is green for their respective sides.

Where is this U-turn on Marathahalli bridge? Are you talking of the road bridge (over ORR) or the rail bridge? They had bricked up the former a few weeks back - has it been opened up again now?

I guess you mean on the Marathahalli underpass over ORR. Signal would pile up traffic further. They must ban right turns in all direction. To turn right people have to turn left and then make a U turn.

It is opposite to A2B just before Marathahalli railway overbridge - for folks coming from HAL to turn back towards HAL. Only small vehicles can make the turn.

And this was the side effect of the median cut yesterday. As you can see this is the worst place to offer an U-turn by cordoning off the whole right lane when left lane is used as a bus stop. So our friends at BMTC and private ops happily occupy both time and space at their own leisure and we can't overtake from right because of the forced U-turn by the barricade. The jam spilled to Kalamandir turn off, and then almost to Total mall in ORR too. One of the unsmartest move by BTP.

I fail to understand why aren't Bangalore traffic cops serious about container trucks plying on city roads during the day / night.
They should impose rule for the trucks to stick to the left lane and drive at 40km/hr. No matter what, they shouldn't come to the middle or right lane.

In my hometown Bhubaneswar, there is this strict rule for trucks which travel on NH5 passing through Bhubaneswar.

BTP should start harrasing the truckers which break this rule. They can fetch better fines, errr... bribes.

In Bangalore, no one respects the cops. That's the blatant truth. Last week my father was driving in his car when he noticed a biker coming in the wrong direction. My dad raised his hand towards the biker to indicate that he was wrong.
My father then stopped the car , went to the traffic police standing there and asked him why he did not stop the biker.
The cop gave a shocking reply. "These bikers are morons. If you argue with them they give you back left and right".

Today, at 6 out of the 10 signals that I have to cross on the way to office, the front row bikers were lost in their own world and did not notice the signal turn green. Couple of honks from the back - they are startled; they fumble and then start their bikes and zoom off.

BENGALURU: Travel time to Kempegowda International Airport will come down significantly within two years with the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) moving ahead with its six-lane elevated corridor project."The detailed project
report (DPR) is ready, and we will invite tenders in a month," BDA Engineer Member PN Nayak told ET.

The 6.7 km-long corridor linking Basaveshwara Circle (Chalukya Circle) and Hebbal Junction aims at providing a seamless corridor from Central Bengaluru to the airport. The project cost of the corridor, that will merge with Hebbal Flyover, has been revised to Rs. 1,350 crore, and includes 80 crore flyover remodeling.BDA expects the project to take 18 to 24 months to complete.

There is no land acquisition involved, and the Centre, state, and BDA will together fund it in a 50:40:10 ratio.

The corridor will ease off the congestion on the road to Hebbal and cut VidhanaSoudha airport travel time to 30minutes. There will be five entry loops near at Millers Road, Palace Road, Vidhana Soudha Road, Race Course Road, and Raj Bhavan Road.
