Agree. They might even get an idea of constructing wall around the pothole and naming it "Crocodile circle".

with due apologies to the crocodile, I think the crocodile is the BBMP itself, happy in slush and an enormous appetite

As per the article in the Hindu we will need 2631 of them to "deploy" in all potholes. Not sure how did they count this. I am sure I can see more potholes in the stretch between Marathhalli to Electronics city itself.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Whatz up with folks controlling traffic in BETL. They absolutely are clueless on what has to be done to ensure smooth flow. Took a good amount of time to get into EC phase 1 and reach work. I guess switching back to Hosur main road will be faster if BETL folks continue their reckless attitude

People parking on both sides of the road is so common in Bangalore. The stretch frm e-zone to Empire hotel (JNC road as it's called) seems to be narrow and the presence of umpteen number of restaurants make this a very slow moving stretch, especially during weekends. What annoys is that the cops are present with breath analysers to check drunk driving (which is good) but do nothing about the vehicles parked at 'No Parking Zone'.

I have seen many a times police jeep being parked in NO PARKING ZONE. Now who will take initiative to slap fine on the cop??

Couple of weeks back, I was held up (along with everyone else on the road) on Old Airport Road in front of HAL police station - reason being a top cop (uniformed; I could see him since I was at the front of the queue) in his SUV wanted to exit the police station and proceed towards the city.

Unlike the run-of-the-mill VIPs who I routinely encounter on that road, this chap help up traffic for close to 20 minutes.

This during morning peak hour (9:30-ish). The queue the other way had built up all the way till BESCOM at Murugesh Palya. They wouldn't even report such jams/blockades in their Twitter feed or inform the FM stations.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Regarding the news article in bangalore that talked about the image of crocodile on the road to protest against the uncovered pot hole, I saw the subsequent image in NDTV as to how the pothole was covered.
Hell man, the pothole was covered using mud!!!!

Is this the latest technology?? Has BBMP filed a patent in this regard????

Organic method. It anyway looks like a freshwater pipe leak. Probably the immediate area are now used to water tasting of traffic!

That footpath on St. Marks road must be mouth watering for bikers. Give it one traffic jam and all 2 wheelers will be driving on that.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

I wish they put up some more barriers other than the 6 black poles on the footpaths on St.Marks road. Maybe some closely planted spikes will do, just to deflate the tyres of the moronic two wheeler riding imbeciles. Will be nice to see them nursing the punctures and pushing the bike a distance to get the tyres fixed.

Sigh if wishes were horses.
BTW, my workplace is just at the junction of Cubbon park and Vittal Mallya road, and the road looks great now. The civic department has worked overnight to install some dustbins, paint the lanes and zebra crossing lines and re-lay the road. Only hope it remains during the monsoon. The dustbins may end up just being show pieces.

St. Marks Road is a classic case of "Dude where's my road ?"

While it's great for pedestrians, I have my own doubts about it really being used by pedestrians, most likely it will be hawkers and other encroachers!
There is almost no scope/space for parking/stopping on this road. If a vehicle breaks down or stops, it can lead to lot of chaos.

I just hope that I'm totally wrong in thinking this way and it will indeed be good for pedestrians and traffic compared to the earlier layout

The problem is "how much road is good enough for Bangalore traffic..!" Hosur road is 10 lanes wide. Still one of the most choked roads. So let us give new initiative like Tendersure atleast a try before criticizing. As some one said in the FB post, this is the way roads are constructed all over the world.

Practically as well as legally cannot be done. The spikes will cause injuries to the pedestrians for whom the footpaths are meant for in the first place. A better option may be zig zag placement of the pillars on the footpath with gap just enough to let a person pass through. Rather unfortunate that we have to come up with ideas to prevent 2 wheelers riding on footpath.
