I wouldn't be surprised if the road remains closed for 6 months. BWSSB started with their drainage pipe work in Whitefield area almost 6 months back and still the work is going on.

They actually started digging somewhere around Dec 2014, which means it is now more than 9 months and still there is no sign of the digging ceasing.
Last Sunday, I was stuck near the shell fuel station on varthur road for more than 45 minutes because they were digging up the already dug up area again and the digger was occupying the remaining part of road completely blocking the road for vehicles!

I have completely stopped taking this road to my office in JP Nagar for my everyday commute.
From my home in borewell road, I now go through varthur town, panathur main road and join the outer ring road at the panathur underpass.
Though this route is longer and narrow, the road conditions are much better when compared to the whitefield main road.

Eventhough GM shows it as a walking route, cars go easily through it
https://goo.gl/yjNiaU
People who've driven through nallaruhalli would find this less bumpy
Recently I saw Tesco's Reva traversing this route

This road used to be a good alternative earlier, but BWSSB dug up the whole stretch more than a year and half ago and haven't bothered to repair it after that as usual.
The road is wide enough for 2 cars to pass, but it looks like an off road track with a lot of slush when it rains which it does almost everyday now a days.

Jam Alert: BETL
BETL is closed towards Bangalore due to an accident. A colleague of mine called me now who was driving towards EC and said traffic has been diverted to regular non-tolled corridor due to this.

It was a useless bus breakdowns. Like USA we really need to have laws that fine these poorly maintained vehicles so heavily if they break down and cause such jams.

It's ridiculous. My friend/colleague left at 8pm and it took him 1.5 hours to get down from BETL. Luckily he was sitting in the office cab and not driving today.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

I happened to see a bus breakdown live this morning.

I was waiting at the Graphite Junction coming from Brookefield.

It was a Volvo bus that was waiting towards my right. As it was idling, it started spewing coolant through the rear. And a lot of it! It looked like a pipe had burst or the like!

Eventually the spewing stopped because I guess there was no more coolant left! In a matter of seconds, I could see smoke bellowing out of the rear engine bay. The driver didn't seem to know. Go to the driver side window and told him about the smoke. He immediately stopped the bus on the left side.

The way the coolant was leaking, it definitely didn't seem like a leak of sorts. It appeared like someone had forgot to close the coolant reservoir correctly leading to the cap eventually falling off and letting the coolant go all over the place.

Oh..okay. So this is the reason for yesterday's mega block. I had to drop some one at Bommasandra to board the 2100Hrs Kallada Volvo to Edappally. The bus came in at 2300Hrs.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

We need more of those Anacondas and Crocodile sculptures in the evil Bangalore potholes, to make the god damned BBMP see some sense and give us our tax money's worth!
They are the most apathetic bunch of idiots in the whole wide world.
Now with their upcoming elections they've been dumping flyers everywhere.
I ve been making paper planes of these flyers and giving them to the poor kids of the neighbourhood because I think absolutely NOTHING and have absolutely NO regard for the candidates! All they want is to make money from public contracts. In this, our 70th year of Independence, I hope things go better but going by the last 69 years, Im not convinced!

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Folks

A major traffic alert: A BMTC bus has landed over a broken portion of the road (Graphite India Main road towards Kundalahalli side). This spot is somewhere close to CMRIT.

As a result, all vehicles bound towards Kundalahalli are being diverted on the other side. So be prepared for the worst travelling ordeal.

Also there is water logging at the kadubeesanahlli underpass. Infact there was a case of rear ending between 2 cars. There is also water logging close to the SAP labs main road.

Was thinking of taking the Kundalahalli Gate and fill petrol at Mats bunk instead of going through the Railway Gates, good decision that I dint go that way.

Also there is water logging at the entrance and exit of each fly over on the ORR from Sarjapur Junction to Marathahalli.

There is also water logging at the Marathahalli underpass, but not as serious as Kadubeesanahalli.

Looks like it will be a hard day to start the week

Regards

Whoa ! I was just about post this !

The Kadu-Underpass is a mess !! Left lane and middle lane flooded ! Right lane a Tempo Traveller has rear ended a Airport Taxi Dzire. None of the vehicle owners were there. Left to mercy of the Lord !!

The slush fest near CMRIT on the lane towards Kundanahalli has ripple effect on the opposite lane all the way from Cosmos mall and beyond. Took me 45 mins to inch from Cosmos mall till the Knightswood apartment junction !!!

I was following the tow truck till the Maruti showroom (near Cosmos) where it went over to the opposite lane, cleared the bus somewhere and the traffic started flowing albeit very very slow. The slush fest is a horrible one, and seems like it can easily swallow a bus wheel !!

By the way, the BMTC hadn't broken down, seemed like it was stuck in the slush. Saw some wide tyre marks inside the slush !!

My dashcam has captured all these exciting things

Nice way to start the week.

Regarding the BMTC bus , I think it landed on the repaired road and it caved in. I really doubt if the road was repaired using tar or the BBMP filled the same with mud because that seems to be the norm these days.
