Just reached the airport from basweshwarnagar. It was totally uneventful. Saw 0 cops or cop cars on the entire route till I reached the airport but it was OK. No signs of violence anywhere. Very few cabs on the way to the airport, no other obvious signs of something amiss.

On the entire stretch from hebbal flyover to the airport, saw only one petrol bunk open. It was the Bharath Petroleum bunk on the right side of the road right when the unused toll booth starts on the way to the airport. Everything else is closed.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

There go the superbikes roaring. Can hear them everyday ~11:30pm. Today they're abit late.

Such guys are well connected, roads should be safe right now. I feel.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Drove to Padmanabha Nagar from Bannerghatta road to pick up my wife who stayed the night at her relative's house. Roads were mostly empty with little traffic.
But huge queues in front of all fuel stations. Lot of burnt debris at major junctions.
Shops are open for now.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Guys, any updates on Hebbal - KR Puram - Marathahalli?

EDIT: Just passed Manyata, roads are totally empty. Heavy KRP/BP police presence at major intersections.

Most cabbies driving in an insane manner seeing the empty roads! Beware

No BMTC buses seen. Autos plying, private buses and tempo travellers too.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Dear members,

I understand that the situation in the region is tense. Please stay indoors and safe. If you happen to step out due to any unavoidable circumstances, please share latest update about road situation in Bangalore - which roads are open/blocked, traffic build-up due to protest etc. Help out others who might be stuck/stranded in a sensitive area.

But, please remember:
1. Do not post anything about the Cauveri issue. Please remember the forum rule "Sensitive discussions involving politics or religion are to be avoided".

2. Do not post information that you might have 'heard' or got as a forward on whatsapp. The authenticity is generally suspect and just creates more confusion.

3. Do not post images of any violent protests that you might have clicked. A simple comment like "12-Sep-2pm: xx road is blocked due to violent protests. Please avoid." should suffice.

Any off-topic post would be deleted.

Stay put guys. Even this shall pass!

Did Yelahanka to Bellandur in 50 minutes flat - completely peaceful on roads but no BMTC/KSRTC, no radio taxis and very few autos and private buses.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Any one has update on situation near Orion Mall, Brigade Gateway, Rajajinagar. As this is one of the areas in the curfew list. I may need to do a Sahakarnagar -Brigade Gateway- Sahakarnagar run. in the next 20 to 30 mins.

With curfew, 144/CrPC, police presence etc. I don't think people with a genuine purpose need to worry today. Of course your risk is dependent on your context.

Please avoid venturing into curfew areas unless it is an emergency. Curfew means no one is to be outside unless you fall under specified essential services or specified exempted purposes.

If at all necessary, keep ID documents in hand and carry some proof as to why you are outside.

Remember, the cops/RAF are also human beings and fearful of their own well-being. They must also be nervous about everything which approaches them.

EDIT: People are mixing up curfew and Sec 144. The latter is only for people assembling in >5 numbers for unlawful activities. The former is much much more serious and one is "guilty unless found innocent".

As far as I know there is no law in India that defines and regulates a separate concept of curfew. Curfews are imposed under Section 144 CrPC.

Secondly, there are only few laws in India that impose "guilty unless found innocent". 144/CrPC is not one of them.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Any update on open petrol bunks in the MG Road area? A quick survey in Fraser Town, Cox Town and Ulsoor yielded none.
