Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

That crossing of cars between and arrival will be a disaster. The volume of traffic is just too high for a traffic signal.

They should have built a small flyover to go over for the cars going to arrival lounge. Expensive but a much more viable option for long term convenience.

Or is P3 not the long-term parking option now?

P3 has been closed for some time now. P2 is the long-term parking now.

I for one feel positive about this one. From what I could understand, this will come out of their CSR budget and I have always believed that the companies should only invest their CSR in developing their own immediate surroundings and not to the CM or the PM relief fund, as has always happened. Let us now hope that the plan gets submitted and the implementation starts soon.

Nopes, currently KIA has only entry and exit which is the existing trumpet flyover. However, GoK and local GP leaders have recently been talking of another gate on the south-west (bottom left) corner which will be developed as an alternative access point.

There is another option on the Hoskote Malur Road side near SH104 which looks unlikely as T2 and new apron area is coming up right on that access path. At best that will grant access to a Cargo Village but not to the KIA terminal buildings themselves.

Last few times I have parked in the area marked "P3 - Long Term Parking" in the picture. This is the far one, even beyond the place where one boards airport taxi, right? Don't recall if that was for short-term or long-term.

P3 is now likely to be exclusively premium parking. I think they will retain the long term parking slots in P2 itself and provide an entrance in the circled area. They DO have 2 other parking lots beyond the terminal building for vehicles & buses plus the new makeshift (very dusty) huge lot (slightly raised from ground level) for the radio taxis (Ola/Uber/Meru etc.)

Best bet is P2 I think.

Truck breakdown before Brigade Metropolis going towards Whitefield. This along with the Junction has caused a pile up. Avoid this stretch and take goshala road.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

BTP has closed the U turn to Yeshwantpur railway station when coming from Orion mall side. Hence you need to go all the way upto RNS motors to take that U turn All folks planning to go to Yeshwantpur railway station please add a minimum of 20 minutes and max of 45 minutes to your travel as there is also a new bottle neck created on the main carriageway.

That stretch of road will not be laid in any foreseeable future. I am told that the stretch comes under the lake / forest department and is not a road to begin with.

Thanks for sharing , surely we need to budget 45 mins for this alone Or use the Yeshwanthpur railway station back gate using the pipeline road

Why on earth would they do BOTH at the same time? Close off the service road in front AND close off the u-turn? 2 different departments without any coordination whatsoever

That would be the best option given the current scenario

Now that is bangalore's finest using their collective wisdom!

Not sure why they had to close the U turn as this has only increases chances of accidents because of wrong side driving. Saw a whole bunch of cabs drive all the way from railway station entrance road to RNS motors on the wrong side. Even saw layers of glass on the road yesterday night, which could have been because of wrong side driving.

Even harder to understand the logic of closing this as you are funnelling more vehicles into 2 major bottlenecks - 1 the Taj vivanta signal & 2 - Yeshwantpur flyover Y junction. Ideally, you would want to reduce traffic at bottlenecks but I guess BTP has other ideas.

Now the closed U turn is still a bottleneck/added risk area as auto's park there to drop off folks headed to railway station & 2 wheelers try to sneak between the barricades.

This is my pet peeve in Bangalore, Activa and Splendor riders doing snail speeds in the middle of the road.
