Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

One student died on Dinnur Main Road, in the fashion you described. It was horrendous, I'm told. Unfortunately for Bangalore - 'Governments change, policies don't'.

Even if they don't want to do the white topping on the remaining portion, they could just make the levelling so that vehicles can use all the lanes.
The section is open today after so long. They have put the tar and vehicles coming on the service road can merge on to the main road now adjacent to the bus stop.

But today white topping has started here. Even with very thin traffic today, vehicles piled up. Need to brace for slow moving traffic post Diwali holidays.

thanks for the update.
btw, i saw the barricades yesterday night itself, so it will be really painful drive for me to drive back home from office. first, there will be jam from nagawara flyover till hennur signal, then this new section and finally from bennigenahalli till sg palya cross!

Drove around Bangalore for a late night drive. Anyone who drives the Jayadeva-Silk Board stretch has my sympathy and respect.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

The bollards in Mahadevapura are gone.
Even the ones in Marathalli seemed lesser than before.

Is the Nov 1 implementation of BRTS still on ?

Though I don't know if Nov 1 exercise is on for sure, the Mahadevapura Bollards are lying damaged on the footpath. About 3 days into the pilot run, seems like a heavy vehicle crashed into the bollards, the easy downhill after KR Puram station will make many a driver to not see these bollards.I think the plan is to fix the bollards from the start of the flyover, but not sure.

With the Ramamurthynagar under bridge White topping and "NIMBUS" from Nov 1st, the ORR users are in for a post - Diwali treat, for sure

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Looks like the bollards are gone between Marathahalli and Silk board and replaced by a yellow lane. Another stupid implementation burning tax payers money and no one knows where these bollards and all the efforts and money go now. So is the bus lane plan still on or scraped?

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Looking at @audioholics capture, appears they are completely gone even in Marathalli. In the morning ride I saw a few were still holding ground.

Better sense has prevailed - this looks like being slowly being made to die a natural death. the ORR was the last place this experiment should have taken place.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Maybe they should build a wall They could have fast tracked the metro instead of this exercise. With metro going to take half the road during construction, how long will this bus lane last anyway

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

BMTC will take the biggest hit when the Metro will be operational in the work corridors. Their non cooperation on effectively running metro feeders is a prime example of the threat they perceive that metro to be. This bus lane is just a feeble attempt to somehow stay relevant.

Money, you know where it goes

So in the end everyone is happy, no separate lanes, but lane work completed and paid for.

Even if metro was to cover major areas of the city, leaving aside the fact that a possibility of that even is a distant dream now, metro will be required to cover the last mile connectivity. So BMTC will still be relevant.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Money spent (and made), unpopular idea apparently shelved, people thank their lucky stars for things not getting worse than they already are and we're back to square one with our pockets picked.

They should build a wall around the city and keep out all those who have gone out for the holidays. It has been the most pleasant couple of days to drive around in the city. I actually heard one shopkeeper saying that this reminds him of old Bangalore as he could get to Majestic from Koramangala and back in 45 mins.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Many U-turns on sarjapura road have been blocked by placing cement blocks (some have concrete filled in them).

Should be fine this week. But real impact we will see next week.

As much as I love no traffic or less traffic, I somehow don't like this comment. Is it aimed at people from outside this state? How does one become "of this state"? Does buying a house, multiple vehicles, and living in the city for 10+ years qualify one for that or a something else is required? Or only people who buy property etc. are called of this state?

Let's not say such unpleasant words
PS: Happy Deepavali
