From silk board take the btm Lake road to hit Bannerghatta road and then turn to JP Nagar ORR. No blocks anywhere. I did the reverse journey last week.

Yet another nail in the coffin for the dedicated bus lane perhaps, in the form of Covid-19 ...

Yes this is the same route that I take regularly. The straight road from Silk Board through BTM layout leading to JP Nagar has been a mess for months now and anyways not a good option.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

The lockdown is about missed opportunities.
BMTC could have used this 1 1/2 months to train it's drivers how to drive properly. However, now they seem to be stopping further away from the bus stop, hogging both lanes more effectively and jumping signals with even more abandon.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Absolutely nothing was done these months to improve infra. Look at the Metro, the iron rods are rusting away. Roads have more potholes that ever. Dubai took this opportunity to complete more and more road works, to improve the city further

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

The entire country was on lockdown with only essential services working. I am not sure why you expect BMTC or BMRCL employees to work.

Hey, that's not so true. Look at this, the bus lane on ORR is ready

Err, no.

Infra work has been going in bits and pieces across the country. Maybe not at the levels you are expecting/comparing but it has. Follow The Metro guy to get alerts on what's happening on the metro rail construction across different cities; there have been a few threads and posts on road work being completed across the country highways; and so on.

Obviously it could be much much better; but then that's always the case, no?

Not sure about BMRCL, but I've seen at least 25-30 BMTC workers every time I've crossed Yeshwanthpur bus stand.
I guess they come under essential services, so they have to report to duty, but since buses are off road, they cannot drive?

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Thank you for pointing this out. This was much, much needed. My areas are mostly Bangalore South and the North, Hebbal Side (the commute), where I'm seeing roads in great disrepair. Even the Metro work that I was quoting is the Bannerghatta stretch and the Kanakapura stretch. Should have been more specific

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

The bus lane on the Agara junction flyover is useless. All the buses stop under the flyover as there is an important bus stop there which also serves as an interchange for the buses coming from Koramangala/Jakkasandra side. I've never seen buses taking the flyover here and having this bus lane on the flyover is redundant, unless they plan on moving the bus stop also on top of the flyover!

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Drove on ORR after what felt like a lifetime this weekend. I didnt have a major issue with the bus lane until I touched sarjarpur road. One mid sized lorry and there is barely any space to overtake until the Agara flyover.

A Merc GLS ( may be a newbie) struggled to and then finally got back into the lane behind the lorry and let others pass. How embarrassing it would have been!

nothing embarrassing about failing to overtake due to lack of space.

Saw few Volvo buses on the road today - Hebbal, ITPL & KIAL routes. Not sure whether they were picking up passengers.

Bus takes around 30 minutes from HSR flyover to reach Silkboard. If they create the bus lane, the distance can be covered in 2 minutes. Unfortunately, the bus lane is missing in this section.

The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has granted permission to operate buses from 5 locations to the Kempegowda International Airport
