Wanted to travell back from Chandigarh to Baroda this time on NH 65 which connects Ambala to Pali in Rajasthan. Have never done this route though have heard good about it. Want to know-
* How is the road quality: is it a twin lane or the SH types single lane.
* How is the navigation thru smaller towns- Hissar. Churu, Fatehgadh ect like- Painfully right through the towns or a pleasent bypass?
* Is it safe to travel- interms of help available incase of a breakdown- the only big town being Hissar and Jodhpur.
* Facilities- place of stay & restaurants on the way.
* Any nice things to see on the way
This time I was quite dissapointed travelling from Rewari to Panipat (basically to bypass Delhi) as the roads had deterioratd quite a bit from last year. Had travelled exactly a year back and things were much better then.

Good connect.

Ambala-Kaitha-Nirwana-(cross over canal and left turn just before Nirwana)-Uklana Chowk-Left to Barwala-Hissar (go straight thru town)- Rajgarh-Churu-Fathepur- Left on NH11 till Laxmangarh-Right to Salasar-Nagaur-Phalodi-Left to Jodhpur-Pali.

Do not worry almost all the town mentioned have resonable facilities. I remember getting a clutch plate replaced by a compeitor for his Gypsy in Rajgarh few yesrs back during Desert Storm ( I had to tow him there).

Better would be Chandigarh-Sonepat-Rohtak-Rewari-NH8-Jaipur-Kishangarh-Leave NH8-Nazirabad-Chitorgarh (now use bye-pass left)-Udaipur-NH8 agian. Not Panipat-Rohtak

But you say roads are bad. Well Laxmangarh-Salasar-Nagaur stretch is not too hot either.

Hissar, Churu, Nagaur, Jodhpur are towns that you will have to crawl through depending on time of the day.
