re: Traffic and life on the roads in Chennai

^^^ I don't think the roads will need to be dug up to do this check.
Plus I remember reading about some kind of penalties incorporated in the tender if the contractors don't build the road to the specs. So this check must be towards that.

Spotted at the BHS-Clubhouse, this neat and well-maintained bike that used to be the defacto leader in the 100-cc segment long ago.
The owner seems to spend quite some effort and time in keeping the bike looking so neat even after so many years.

I din't mean it either. The equipment uses some magnetic waves to assess the quality of the roads laid.

The digging up was with reference to the cable walas.

+1 to that. It still will be, was and always. Reminds me of my 84 goldline series. remniscent of the distinct metallic beat of the Yamaha.
Great bike and greater experiences.

Adds looks to the swift.
To me it seems to be Apt as Thala is a car freak and one of the best looking and well behaved tinsel town star of today. Loved it (would have got the same done if my wifey allows me- but then it would be superstar only)

Cheers

This must be S32 (Vadapalani <=> Thiru Vika Park) which I spotted today on our route with the driver having trouble negotiating the bus on the heavily encroached upon Anna Nedumpathai.
I find it tough to drive the car through that road, so can imagine his plight.

BTW, till I saw the bus today, I was thinking that these are private mini-buses. Good to see MTC buses instead. A welcome move on the Government's part, though the allusions to the ruling party (leaves and CM's photo etc) could have been avoided.

Yes, this one also seemed to be stopping at random stops. BTW, when the M20 used to run on this route, "Selvi Stores" used to be our stop.

re: Traffic and life on the roads in Chennai

^^These buses run on back roads and interior roads, sometimes side streets for the most part, where there are no scheduled bus stops. So they stop wherever you wave your hand.

A colleague told me that a couple of days back, ten lambs were transported from Nanmangalam to a butcher's shop in Medavakkam by this bus! The fellow took ten tickets for them and also paid Rs 20.00 per lamb to the crew, he says!

ECR,OMR, GST road, Jawaharlal Nehru road.. all of these are clogged today! Standstill traffic, thanks to the diwali rush. Took me 2 and half hours to reach Nelson manickam road from ECR.

Home going crowd for Diwali maybe. This happens every year and every long leave fest.

Fridays usually there is a traffic jam on OMR , Madhyakailash and Sardar Patel in addition to the heavy traffic on Mount Road and T.Nagar. Worried about this evening hope its not too bad today.

Crowd should be less today as everyone who needs to be out of town for Diwali would already have started yesterday. Still, better to start around 3-4 to be on the safer side and reach home before the madness starts!!!

Can never forget the ordeal of the multi-hour traffic standstill on IT-Corridor of Friday 24-Oct-2008.

Yes, most folks would have left yesterday and many offices / schools are closed today. But better to be safe than sorry.

re: Traffic and life on the roads in Chennai

All major entry/exit points in the city are facing traffic congestion due to the festive season. Here's a pic from today's "The Hindu".
