The chaos continues at Moolakadai. When you drive from Hyderabad, after the junction of ORR and NH 5, you will be directed towards left and taken via Madhavaram to Moolakadai. During peak hours, it is hell at loose at Moolakadai junction. Even the Almighty may not know when that grade separator at Moolakadai would get completed.

You know how bikers love to speed past on the right, cut across, and take a left turn? This afternoon a bus did that to me!

Anna Salai, Saidapet.

Lots of times. MTC does that often at adyar signal if you are in the left lane and the bus is to your right but yes, not in floating traffic.

The cattle happily lie/ loiter on the road. The barricades also dont help. The intersections are poorly designed and travel from perungudi to navalur takes more than an hour during peak hours. Also the road quality is not all that great these days.

Just hope that we could have some way to remove this toll, especially there is no way it can be bypassed when your company is between these 2 tolls.

I am more than happy to pay the tolls if they could build a skyway, with exits to go down to various intersections!!
This is crazy. The "tolled" access controlled section is about 13km long. This toll is now almost 2rs/km. insane for the slow speeds it gives you!!

I am planning to drive down from Hyderabad and last time this road was totally dug up.
The roads around the flyover are still bad. Nothing much has changed there

Thanks a lot for the responses.

Would the Chennai Bypass be a better option then?

I used this road today and don't see any problems there . Chennai Bypass has a toll of Rs 55/- .It should take you an hour from the turn after Puzhal on Chennai bypass to Adyar .You will see some traffic at Porur.

Please be aware of the latest political situation at Chennai, there were multiple road blocks today all over.

A correction, its still the old rates, and not changing as of now. Might have missed the details since had to move fast throught counter. Today there was a long queue and ample time. Sorry if it caused confusion.

But my argument still hold good, that this road does not deserve to be a toll road.

If getting down at Porur (before toll gate), there is no toll fee.

Ok . I travelled on the opposite direction and paid toll before the Red hills exit . I assume we need to pay when we enter the bypass from Red hill side .
Should be the same Rs 55 I guess.

Yes, there 2 tolls for Chennai bye pass now. One before Redhills exit and one before Porur exit. 55 for the one before Redhills and 35 for the one near Porur exit.

re: Traffic and life on the roads in Chennai

Horrible traffic jam in entire OMR strech (Perungudi to Sholls & Perumbakkam to ECR link road).

Reason: Fasting Protestation of AIADMK cadres on the recent incidents.
Location: Sholls Signal area.

Only one lane is usable if you take left from perumbakkam road towards perungudi due to people sitting all over the road as well.

it Took me 2 hrs for a distance of 24 kms.

Posted this before, but I stayed at home Saturday evening, due to fear, and had an entirely trouble free North-South-North trip on Sunday.
