Ummm... more like power to weight ratio. the ninja 500 weighs about 175 Kgs whereas the Vtec weighs around 980 i think.
That's the idea. Both the Karisma and the Pulsar 180 DTSi, have a higher power to weight ratio than the Vtec.

Well, to continue the Bike vs Car comparo, this months BS motoring pitted the Skoda Rs against the Comet 250.

The specs:
Skoda vRS
1781cc turbocharged inline four
147bhp@5700rpm
21kgm@4600rpm
118.6 bhp/ton

Comet GT250
Oil cooled 75 degree V-twin
27bhp@10,000rpm
2.05kgm@9500rpm
225.4bhp/ton

The results: vRS / GT250
0-60 kmph: 3.98 / 3.69 secs
0-100 kmph: 8.5 / 9.5 secs
Top speed: 220 kmph / 135 kmph

I rather doubt that. In Europe, Japanese cars are known to be not as long lasting as European cars. They will last longer than American cars, but not European cars.

Obviosly in Europe, European cars would last longer. Europe - European cars, don't you see the link. LOL

Anyway, no more build quality discussion here, firstly bcoz it's a never ending topic and 2ndly, bcoz that is not what this thread is about.

No way a p180, comet or any current production bike or say even an RD would beat the City in top speed, BUT an RD would reach its top whack way too quicker than the VTECH. A drag RD with all the works would be a totally different ball game.

Obviously, even the Karizma and the Pulsar will hit their top speed, much faster than a Vtec would.

Asuming that the low 13 secs is around 13.2 secs. The bike will have to reach speeds in the region of 170-175 kmph. I wouldn't bet my money on that.

SpeedRun '05 = RD did 13sec flat.
My advice...pick on ur own size

Own size?? With the kinda power to weight that RD must have, i'll have to get a NSX R . Hehe

But around a track, i'll take my chances in my stock Vtec.

In a recent 5th gear episode, the Ducati 999 which has almost twice the power to weight , when compared to the Gallardo, managed to beat it by just 0.4 of a sec.

Ofcourse in the next episode, Tiff got a Mowsler and beat the 999 by almost half a sec. But, off all the 3 vehicles the Ducati 999 had a huge advantage, in terms of power to weight.

Bikes need that kinda power to weight, they just can't do without it. An RD 350 or even a super bike with a power to weight, equal to the Vtec won't be able to beat the car on a circuit or even in a straight line drag.

The new R1 has a power to weight ratio of 1000bhp/ton. What do you think will happen when you get it down to the Vtec's P2W, which is 107.6bhp/ton.

I only wanted to make a point about the power a bike makes and referred to a Ninja500R as an example to put forth the power and speed this puny bike is capable of compared to a 1500cc car. I never said I own a Ninja500R

Cheers

The power to weight ratio of a bike will decrease tremendously when you have a rider on board. The ratio for a car wont be affected much. In general, bikes will destroy cars in acceleration(not talking abt india here). To get a car with matching performance you need to dole out a whole lot of extra cash ( relative to bikes).
