I was on my usual early morning drive today when i saw this white car in the distance. As i closedin, i saw this white lancer stuck behind a truck waiting for the on coming bus to pass.

I went close behind him and shifted into 2nd, ready to blast off. That's when i realised that it was infact a Diesel Lancer.

now i like competitions that last, so i decided to buy him some time and shift into 4th gear at 20kmph.

As soo as the bus passed us our Racer "D" took off. The Vtec ofcourse took it's own time accelerationg as i was in 4th and not 2nd.

By the time my tacho crossed the 3000 rpm mark (which i call the point of no return), the Lancer had taken a 20-30 mtr advantage over me.

One i was past 3000, it was just a matter of keeping my right foot planted and waiting till all hell broke out.

At 4000 rpm i could feel the surge of power pushing the car, pistons whacking those horses out of the cylinders and the speedo keeping it's pace with the tacho.

That little white thing with smoke coming out of it's xhaust, got bigger and bigger. By the time i passed him i was doing speeds in the region of 145-150kmph, still in 4th gear.

On my way back i came across him and he looked......... "Floored".

What can be done using one gear you might ask.........i dunno about the others but i can surely beat a Lancer Diesel.

Regards...

dont spoil your car by shifting into 4th at 20kmph. if you want to give him a head start - keep your distance and give him a head start and then enjoy your boy-racer stuff.

i think the rd can take out the vtec in a straight fight easily, not so sure if you give it a head start.

a well tweaked RD can just #*** the hell of a vtec.

no offence to vtec owners.

Lol lamborghini....the Corolla is a wonderful car but i think the Vtec can be a match for it.The Corolla has abt 18bhp advantage over the Vtec but the Vtec is much better in the handling dept coz the steering is so precise!!! while the Corolla feels over-assisted.In a straight line the Corolla will win hands down but in traffic its gonna be a tough fight!!! and thats what we want dont we?

Well, i cant argue with that coz i've never raced my vtec against a Corolla. but yeah if the chance ever arises, i'm sure the Vtec will live upto it.

Having driven a City 1.3 and having loads of fun with it and then smashing it....i can only imagine how good a Vtec with 106 bhp under the hood and R14 wheels can be coz i havent ever driven one!! Now have a Corolla she is fast n furious but doesnt handle anywhere as good as the City.Firstly the 'A' pillar gets in the view around the corners...secondly the corolla doesnt like to be thrown into turns(she just isnt as confidence inspiring as a City under high speed cornering) and lastly the steering feels over assisted.
So my guess is Vtec and Corolla will have a nice head to head!!

Long Live The City!!!

I went through some of the accelerations times tested by overdrive and it turns out the Vtec isn't as slow when compared to the Corolla as we make it to be.

0-60kmph
Corolla - 4.27
Vtec - 4.41

0-100
Corolla - 9.81
Vtec - 9.92

1/4 mile
Corolla - 17.08
Vtec - 16.96

Standing km
Corolla - 31.35
Vtec - 31.08

Regards...
