Ford Ikon Rear Spoiler stolen

Well absolutely frustrating to find that on saturday night my ford ikon's rear spoiler was stolen and the thief had just ripped apart the brackets to steal it. So anyways the spoiler would be of no use , I wonder why anybody would break a spoiler and steal it for whatever reasons.

Well it is costing above 7k for an official stuff. Has anybody on the forum come across such a theft of spoiler? Anyways will re fit a new one soon.

makes me remember,years ago,some one had flicked half chain cover from my Karizma in Delhi

This seems nothing compared to the article in TOI the other day I read when thieves were stealing the braking components of the running local train in Mumbai. Whats expected next?

Things are getting worse day by day; I'm sure people who steal may not use it on their spoiler. Consider this, if I were to steal & put it on to my Ikon, then definitely I've an Ikon. If I've an Ikon it means, I'm capable of buying & making an income to maintain it. If I've some means to make an income then, I don't have time to steal. Or must be a crazy psycho doing this notorious activity.

Ofcourse, someone is stealing to make their living. I can't help imagining a bunch of robbers employed by local automobile spare parts dealers for stealing so that they get the OE's for killer price, refurbish & sell them as OE component for less than MRP in the market. But if Ford A.S.S is also into this!!! God alone can save this country.

it could be thieves or some drug addicts.

I saw it with my own eyes, some druggists trying to uproot iron medians. Why ? to sell it in the scrap market, they tried with bricks too, but couldnt succeed, so they moved on to break something else. This was right opposite Tis Hazari Court. So much for the courts.

This has happened in the past to my neighbors M800. It had the OE spoiler that came as an accessory from Maruti. The thief just ripped it off just like he did in your case. OEM spoilers are expensive so if you dont mind using an afermarket option, head to CST road Kurla. You get new fiberglass stock spoilers for most cars for around 600 bux. Have got spoilers from this guy for both my cars the lancer as well as the Accent and the quality was good enough at that cost. PM me if you want more details on the vendor.

the logos have become a real nusisance.

Well, what if the Ikon itself was stolen in the first place?

dkhatau, was your spoiler held in place by clips or was it drilled and bolted to the boot?

@Gilead My spoiler was fixed by nut and bolt of plastic so it was ripped apart, actually the whole bracket was broken and the nut bolts are still on the rear. Well this kind of theft has got no meaning accept for an drug addict who can make some bucks.

Off topic but was your car at the international Airport today ? I saw an Ikon with spoiler ripped right at the airport

Was it insured under your insurance policy? If yes then they will pay for the cost of that? If no then make it sure you add that under your policy next year and pay premium on the same thing and get it covered.

Yeah it was insured but as it is an accessory so will not get more than 50%. Anyways thanks for the same.
