Cops car runs over a doctor in Mumbai

Source: Mid-day.com

Need we say anything more. We were discussing the Hummers for the cops in Mumbai. This is something that shocked me:
While a case of negligent driving has been registered against the driver, despite repeated requests by the victim’s family, cops at the Tardeo police station refused to conduct the mandatory blood test to check alcohol levels.

Ok what would the cops have now to give as an excuse? Is this fellow being taken to task or not??? This is damn unacceptable...

"Public ke saamne isko rakhkar, kaan ke neeche do bajaneka hai".. And then put him behind bars....

And hawk.. the link to the mid day article ain't working.. Directs to an 'Error Page'. Could you check.

This has to be taken seriously. How can the cops run over a civilian and act innocent?

it definitly has to be taken seriously but i know for a fact nothing much will happen.these cops get over with very little or no punishment.rules and laws are made for everyone.cops jus assist to make sure they are followed and that doesnt mean they should break them.

i hope proper action is taken.

No action taken?
WTF? In today's Mid Day, along with this there is also an article of a 70 year old granddad hitting a constable but the granddad took full liability for it, went to the Hospital.
What action are the cops taking against the officer? What did they do to the doctor?

Almost a same thing happened here sometime back...
A doctor was run over by a bus at a signal and the traffic police who were there just stood enjoying the scene instead of helpin him.

A police van also ran over 3 bikers in 3 saperate incidents in the same month at the same junction!!!

What do u have to say on that...and ofcourse not much action has been taken abt it. It;s kidna become the norm these days

And to add to it this was there in the mid-day report.

Shah adds that apart from the driver, Superintendent of Police Ravi Shanker Ayyanar and Crime Branch Inspector M D Indulkar were also in the vehicle. However, S Yeolekar, senior inspector of Tardeo police station, denies Ayyanar’s presence.

God only knows the truth.

Rules and Laws are always different for people in authority or power. That's the sad truth in India.
I also read the article on how cops are making discrimination while towing cars. Mid-day parked 2 cars: Indica and Merc in different no parking zones in Mumbai and it was the Indica that got towed while the Merc grandly stood in the no parking spot. Maybe the cops thought the Merc belongs to some big-shot who could bust their a*** if they towed the car. So in a way it's not the cops fault too...So being a common man means you have to suffer in India. If you are in authority or rich, you can do what you want. Sad state of affairs.

whats so shocking ? happens all the time here ! what was the doc thinking standing on the line that depicted the divider ? was he blind ? couldnt he see that the cop jeep was approching ?

have seen cops driving the wrong way on streets against the traffic flow in the fast lane without headlights !! have seen them do it on the expressway even !

after a few days the initial reactions stop and then all is back and rosy - the cop will be probably driving the same vehicle before the week is over !
