We have received the following communication from our transport department :

Quote:

Traffic police have informed that the areas of Shivaji Chowk, Wakad Village and Dange Chowk are likely to witness large crowds which may result in traffic jams & consequently delay in movement of vehicles.
Police authorities have also intimated that no diversions have been planned as on date & that adequate traffic control measures will be put into place to ensure smooth passage of vehicular traffic during the above timings. Diversions may be planned in case of excessive congestion/jams in these areas.
Its better to bolt earlier in the day tomorrow (29 Aug, Thursday) if you can. The celebrations begin at 6.

Hello All,

I may be off topic, but cannot find a better thread to post my query.
I need suggestions on the below topic:

Any updates on Hinjewadi traffic as there is Janmashtami celebration. I am planning to leave by 7.00 pm

Something was seriously wrong at Bhumkar Chowk today morning. I got stuck there for every 20 minutes and did not move even an inch. In the end backed up a little bit , and travelled all the way beyond DY Patil institutes , where found a little flyover (which, incidentally, was also jam packed because of hundreds of others having the same idea as me) , took a u-turn and drove back to HJW flyover, and took the main road to office , where I promptly got stuck in yet another serpentine traffic jam.
Total commute time : 1 hour 20 mins.

Any idea how it is on the way back ? Is it still inexplicably clogged up ?
Even colleagues coming to work as late as 11.30 were also telling about there being no movement at all on that road and they came all the way back to the HJW flyover.

^ Not sure of Monday morning as I took Wakad flyover route, however yesterday congestion started from Wakad flyover itself and that too at 8:20.
It took me exactly 1 hr to reach quadron.

Somehow evenings have become pleasant :D,it takes only 40 mins via Bumkar chowk to reach Vishal nagar

Got a offical mail saying Ganesh Immersion in Hinjewadi starts on 17th (5 pm). Our office buses are going to be rerouted. Expect some jams tomorrow.

My Company Buses of the DLF & Phase-I are scheduled to depart at 5:15 today(17th Sep) . May lead to some traffic at Phase1. They will be following the regular route.
Start early to avoid this congestion.

Guys, any idea as to why the mezza9 - Marunji road ( taking left at mezza9 while coming from Hinj towards pune) is NOT AT ALL repaired or relaid ? This is in the poorest condition since > 6 months and nowadays its almost not motorable at all.

Other roads are some what patched up , not sure if this road is a case of any political difference/ role resp between council/ Gram Panchayat bodies ?

Ultimately we are suffering , we poor tax paying citizens after all ! :-)

Yesterday was pure bliss !! Due to holiday in major (read companies with large population) companies, half the IT junta was off the roads.

As a result, the entire drive from hinjewadi chowk till Chandni chowk to and fro was smooth as butter :) Today its back to normal with 30 minutes spent between wakad chowk and hinjewadi chowk.

Hurray !

Road expansion is in progress between Phase I and Phase II.

Seems the traffic flow towards pahse II will become smooth.

Also heard that a new traffic signal will be installed near the HDFC Bank square / Geometric Road.

Hinjewadi Industries Association and MIDC have jointly resolved to provide a solution to the transport chaos in Hinjewadi.

For that , they need a couple of minutes of your time to fill up the below survey (incase you havent done that already) :

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/FYY6NLC

I have entered my preference as a comfortable, airconditioned bus, with frequent pickups and drops.

Thanks for the link Ojas.
Taken the survey, given the same preference as yours :)

Can we request all BHPians working in HJW, to share the link with their colleagues?
Or is it being sent to companies officially?

You are right, the plan is that all organisations should send this out as a internal mailer of the Survey Link, good you put it up here as it goes to a larger audience.

HIA is also planning a Teaser mail (Traffic Jam - Bus Karo), Awareness skits and Flash Mob by HIA youth team across Hinjewadi in the next few days.

Thanks Sajo, for this usefull link.:thumbs up

I have posted this on my conpany's discussion forum. Expecting a significant amount of input & eventual steps to be taken based on the results of the survey. Fingers crossed for a better travel experience to Hinjewadi.
