Don't worry JD. It will be back by tomorrow.

Or else time to get a thermos to office and carry it outside.

Hence say If you want to make all new cycle track from Wakad to Phase 3. You will have to deal with this three authorities for piece of land.

This morning, got fined for smoking inside my car! Now I know why I was never caught before.

At the junction just before the HJW flyover, the traffic was stopped to allow people take a right turn towards the flyover. I'm happily having my first inside my car with windows rolled down. Our friendly neighborhood policeman takes a look at me and sends his deputy (the guy in the white shirt, blue trousers) to my car.

Deputy: Licen (License please)
Me: Kya hua? (What happened?)
Deputy: Cigarette... (pointing to the stick in my hand)
Me: Lekin main to gaadi mein hoon (But I'm inside my car)
Deputy: Allowed nahi hai, licen dikhao (Not allowed, show me your license)
Me: Sirf dekhna hai ya lena hai? (Do you just want to see it or do you want to take it away?)
Deputy: Fine bharna padega (You have to pay a fine)
Me: Kitna? (How much?)
Deputy: Side mein lo. (Take the car to the side of the road)

Now, this deputy asks me to unlock the car and when I do, he comes straight inside. Clearly, he's looking to make a fast buck. I close the 'deal' and am allowed to go scot-free.

Smoker TBHPians in HJW, try to be inconspicuous in front of cops if smoking in traffic.

Cheers!

Since when is smoking inside your car not allowed? This is a real surprise for me.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Check out Hinjewadi's wikipedia entry .

Quote:
Due to rapid development, hinjewadi is facing serious traffic problem during peak hours. From 8.30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. the HMVs are not allowed to enter the area due to the congestion on the roads. About 3-5 Lac workers travel daily to and fro the IT park. Traffic problem is getting worse and worse day by day.
^^ Can the above piece be edited by someone to make it sound a bit better ? Nothing wrong with this one, but sounds like someone was just venting out. I am also very skeptical about the figure of 3lakhs-5lakhs.

. Dude, please tell me you are kidding. Caught for smoking in YOUR own car! How ridiculous can the authorities get. Since when did a personal car become a public place?

Ojas: That figure is inflated for sure. The rough estimate of people commuting to HJW is between 75k to 1L. Cant be more than that.

I think we can all post our company's rough stats here to arrive at the basic figure.
For my company : 4k strength for Pune. Private cars, around 500. Add about 60 cabs to that number. 21 Buses during each slot in the evening. In all, I can say our company puts around 600 cars/buses on the road everyday.

It is the total number of people traveling into Hinjewadi.

Edit: I edited the wiki entry asking for the citation for the claims there.

I think 75K is too less, there will be 75K from Infy, TCS, Cogni and Wipro combined(correct me if I am wrong). There are many companies in here so 2-3 L should be realistic IMO

Thats normal. The authorities must be preparing for some VIP visit. Tapris will bounce back soon.

My guess is around 1.5L. 1L from big 4 companies and 50k from the rest.

Yup, thats the same reason why 'they' have confisticated the road-side tapris and carts. They initially demand around 10k to 20k to give it back, and then settle down to around 2k

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Note that with multiple non IT companies running in shifts, required support staff, day trippers, residents, through travellers etc the number will be higher. 3L sounds ok.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

As expected, most of the tapri's have started cropping up. Slowly but steadily. As of now, they have a table and chair. Slowly the metal sheets would be built around those. Why destroy them, if they are going to be built anyways in less than 24 hours?

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Unbelievable Thursday effect. It was a 5th gear cruise (even for my bus) all the way upto the chowk, and even then there was no congestion there at all!
Repeat Conclusion : The 1-1.5 L IT Majdoors dont really contribute much to Hinjewadi's traffic problems.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Very true Ojas. When I came to office, the cops (incl our hero cop) were at the bottom of the flyover, controlling traffic. The result was an absolute emptty road all the way.

The conclusion does seem to be right.
