Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Massive jam in Hjw again. Please use orange route or any other route, but not the wakad hinjewadi bridge option.

Yes. Saw this scene. I wonder whether these guys have even an ounce of discipline left in them? I was amazed that even after having provided a legal additional lane on the RHS of the road, people still drive beyond the barricades. Obviously most were bikes, followed by our beloved 60-seaters and then of course the wonderful white-indica-yellow-plates. And what took the icing on the cake was those people driving their high-end Hondas and Chevys. I bet money that a majority of these folks have driven abroad and clearly understand that they are in the wrong. Will we ever improve?

Probably, we will never, atleast in our lifetime.
I hope the cop in question takes away the keys of some offending car/cab drivers and make them wait for minimum 30 minutes before giving them back.
The moment cops turn their backs, things are back to square one.

BTW : Can anyone tell me if the ban on buses taking the Shivaji Chowk-Wakad route in the evening still holds ? I can see plenty of buses taking the right turn/Bridge every day inspite of the so called ban not being repealed.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

The 'extra lane' was stopped all of a sudden today morning. Cops were asking every 2/4 wheelers to join back the normal route. Naturally, that created huge jams all the way.
Apparently, they wanted to check the traffic effect in a given hour (during peak hours). As if, they have been blindfolded for all these years!

The ban still holds on paper. But most bus drivers (and employees)complained of long waiting hours on the Mezza9 routes. Hence they have started using the Shivaji - Wakad chowk road.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Has anyone noticed new road(hope so) being constructed in place of Kachara Depot after Indian Oil Pump?

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

^^Yeah. Looks like the road is finally being widened. Hopefully, that is what it should be - road widening, and not some road construction for a new "self serviced township".

I doubt for road widening as clearly new road is diverting from Main road. Looks like it is for "self serviced township" only :(

Lovely weather, gentle breeze, all windows rolled down, car speed~100kmph @Hinjewadi and only two more days to kill before the weekend .

Yes, I took the right turn from the T-junction towards Embassy Tech Zone. Ever since I "discovered" that route, I am plying on it and Hinjewadi commute has changed dramatically, albeit only in the morning.

^^Yeah, saw that too. No arguments, no challans, just wait and cool your heels and then go.
I wonder who API Nale is. Could be the same 'Tiger Cop'.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Dramatic change in the traffic today - I came from Kalewadi phata to HJW-ph2 in 12 mins (and same no. of mins from parking to my desk ).
And no I never go beyond 50 on my Bird on that road. What a lovely ride it was.
Any one, why the sparse traffic today - around 10am?

Even in the evening from last two days around 6:00 - 7:00 traffic was less from PH1 to Bridge!

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Anyone see the bus that had plunged to the side of the road at Wipro circle? I passed there at around 10:30 pm and saw quite a crowd gathered there.

I heard there were 2-3 fatalities in this accident. A PMPML bus ploughed into bystanders. The various bulletin boards of companies are full of eyewitness reports.
Wonder why it hasnt been reported in the newspapers ?

That's really unfortunate. Mumbai double-decker on poor biker first, and now this - even standing on the road nowadays is risky ite seems.

Correct, I didn't see that in the newspapers today.
