Even i am using this road in the same time slot since long and its ok to drive. I saw many cars/bikes taking this route in last two-three weeks. So i am sure, soon we will have a long queue of cars on this road as well.

Only marked section is unpaved but manageable. Yes. right turn at Wipro circle is possible. Only challenge will be to merge in regular traffic! Otherwise as Rahul has mentioned it's breeze from T section where you leave mezza9 road on left.

P.S: Click on images to view in original size.
Thanks, that seems to be a good option for poor souls going towards ph2 or 3. How much in terms of KMs is it different? looking at the map, it seems around 3-4 kms more than the usual Mezza9 route.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Yesterday at 8:30pm at the Wakad end of the Wakad flyover a Santro was stuck on the divider precariously. Apparently due to lack of light it just went up the divider. Around 10 people were holding the car from falling off and were trying to take it down.

With the road widening work and debris lying around, coupled with lack of lights, please drive safe.

There is a Bharat Bandh tomorrow. Is it being implemented in here? Those coming by car be extra cautious.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

^^Got an email from office saying "Extra precautions have been taken, to make the office a safe place to work". In other words, better get your behind to office .

However, there should be less traffic tomorrow, as most would use this opportunity to do a WFH. It being a Thursday, would also help in less traffic on HJW roads.

Hey, even I got a similar email

I am considering it will be a good day to start cycling to work. Any chance it would be unsafe at all? I hope they should let a poor cyclist go to work?!

Edit: by the way that big road near Monaro's house (ahem, you havent yet heard the last on that!) is going to be extended to join the bypass. I think somewhere near Warje. this is from reliable sources. I am not sure where this will join the bypass exactly, but will try to trek up the smallest hill to find out.

Surpising! Even I got a similar mail!

Well, though cycling to office has always been at the back of my mind, but will give it a pass until winters are here. Not a real big fan of riding to office in sun!

Do you all think the Bhumkar Chowk - Kala Khadak - Mezza 9 road will be safe to drive on tomorrow?

I got that mail too. But as an added bonus got another message from the boss - take a leave tomorrow if required. But yea, do remember that we'll be working extra time this Saturday and Sunday!

Cycling to work will be totaly safe. Two reasons:
1. No body bothers about cyclist. Not even traffic cops!
2. Cycling to work means you need to start atleast by 8:00AM from Home. Now at this times "Bharat chalu hi nahi hota to bandh kaise hoga"

P.S: I generally start by 7:30AM from Vishal Nagar.

Reasons for my cycling safety concerns:
- I dont work in HJW, commute is between Kothrud & SB road. the earlier post was to indicate a possible new route to HJW from town.
- my timings are 11 to 8 ish by when the bandh will be in full force.

by the way no one has yet asked me to work on weekends. they must be thinking let him work on weekdays first!

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Did anyone notice the relatively stress free drive into HJW this morning?
It took me exactly 15 mins to reach DLF from Sus rd.

A lot of people seem to be doing a WFH today. Even the office looks relatively empty.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Had decided to make full use of the bandh scenario, boss Europing, to work from home.
My 6 yr old daughter goes to day care. I told the daughter about my plans, she said she will be bored with me and wants to go to day care.

After arguing with her for sometime, I ended up in God-forsaken-HJW again

No difference for me. It takes me (on an average) 25-35 mins from Sanghvi to DLF. Took me 30 mins today too.

(Do note the above figure has been for office trips between 8:30 - 9:30 a.m.)
