And one TBHPian cut off another!

Had an interesting experience....thought I'd share it with you for what its worth.

Was driving down the Creek Road in Dubai this evening when a Dodge Truck decides he wants to street race...so we start swapping places on this nice bit of road, till we reach the long line of traffic leading up to the bridge to Deira at the end. Dodgie decides to take the fast lane and I chase him...only to come to the stretch where the road curves into a single lane leading up to the bridge.

Dodgie is in a particularly nasty mood today and decides to pass the traffic using the zebra shoulder on the curve and I find myself faced with the option of either following him (illegaly) or cutting into traffic. Spying half a chance, I push my nose in front of a car that has been waiting in queue, muttering a silent apology to that driver. The driver made a fight for his position but I pushed in anyway....

I realise there's no chance of catching up with the Dodge thereafter and decide to stay in line with the traffic, changing lanes dutifully. Halfway up the bridge I get a call and its TBHP member Catamaran (who I've never met - we've only spoken over the phone twice).

"Hello! Long time no see, where are you?"

"I'm driving....tell me, whats up"

"Are you driving your white Mondeo?"

"Yes"

"Up Maktoum Bridge?"

"Yes, why?"

"Do you have a K&N sticker on your boot?"

"Yeah, whats up?"

"You just cut across a Galant"

"I thought it was an old camry, but yes I did cut across some car...not a very nice thing to do. Did you happen to see that?"

"Yes I saw it - I was driving that Galant. I was just telling my passenger that only a Mallu can do that when I saw the K&N sticker and just thought I'd check out if it were you by any chance"

Oooops! Wrong way to meet with a TBHPian for the first time.....

Apologies, Catamaran! But imagine the odds of 2 TBHPians out of 4-5 known members in Dubai crossing paths among a few million vehicles in this City, and of one identifying the other just through guesswork! Great work, Catamaran!

apologies accepted steer....you being a senior BHPian i have to respect you

Guys actually i made all my efforts to stop the mondeo from cutting in, but he just kept coming in and i had to give way else the mondeo would have kissed my galant....I was so irritated on loosing the fight and grumbling till i saw the K&N sticker and guessed it would be steeroid ....

Nice write up steer and thanks for the words.. though it was just a wild guess....

What are the chances!! Sweet experience, Steeroid and Catamaran.

I remember filling diesel in my Jeep once, and a young dude walks up at the petrol pump.

He : So you are into cars?

Me : You bet.

He : Must check out this website www.Team-BHP.com. Its all about the Indian car scene.

Me : Thanks. Will surely do
