Hello all,

we have threads that describe spotting of super cars, vintage cars and high value cars. But how about this?

we go abroad for the work purpose. We move around in public transport. Along with missing our family, a small(or all of it?) portion of our heart is missing our favorite ride back in India. and then you spot your car model and joy rushes through you.

So what about sharing such joy here on TBHP? I want to start such thread where everybody is requested to put pics of spotting of Indian car models outside India.

To start with, let me put some of my spotting in Toulouse, France.

Among the car models in India, VW POLO and FIAT Punto are the most popular cars here. an old punto:

I always keep looking for i20 and spotted it once, but was in bus myself. so couldnt take pictures. :(

Random Indian cars spotted in Malaysia and Singapore. Few Indian cars in the parking lot. Spot them.!

I would rather be interested to see a Mahindra or Tata car abroad. The above ones cannot be called Indian cars as they are global models and many of them existed outside India before they were launched here.

Over the last few years ive randomly spotted Reva / G Whiz, City Rover / Indica and Swift.
But while the Swift may be sold here it really cant be called an Indian car per se.

+1. What esle you expect, now we have more cars built on the global platform there would be umpteem number of sightings in this thread.

Guess we should be specific to spot truly Indian built ones like the Tata's, etc.

Haven't seen any of those Indicas. But reasonably better number of Safaris in Italy.

@Unicorn, the cars you have highlighted are regular models that are used across the world, or in parts of the world. Why should they be unique and hence have a separate thread for these spottings ? Today, most cars sold in India are available outside too - include an Indica, Reva, or a M&M. Even Tata trucks ..

Is it just me, or do the old punto and indica vista rear share quite a resemblance? When i scrolled quickly i thought it was the vista at first.

I had seen a Sumo Grande (yes, only one in my 2 months there) in South Africa. If they can sell them there with ABS and airbags, why not here? :Frustrati

I also had seen many Indica, Vista, Indigo and Scoprio there. I guess there is not much of a point in discussing global brands in this thread. You will see Japanese and Korean cars in almost any corner of the world. It is indeed thrilling to see the cars by Indian manufacturers in other countries!

In some countries there is a law for airbags and other safety features w/o which a manufacturer cannot sell his cars. Bring that law in India and voila!

yes! i agree with you. may be the title of this thread is misleading. my idea was to have something like "spot your car model while abroad".

but now this thread has changed to an interesting topic. so, let me start spotting "indian cars".

During my stay in Johannesburg, have spotted many Indigos.
Also a popular Taxi Company had many Indigo Marinas (dont remember the name, i guess its 'SafeCabs'). Also spotted Scorpios & Safaris.

As Rohanjf & Prince_Pervez mentioned, ABS & Airbags are standard across all models in many countries. You cannot sell a car without these features but here in India, all car companies selling those essential features under a premium!!!.
Roads & Infrastructure getting better in India and here many cruise at speeds over 140 on Highways unlike the case few years back.
These safety features should be mandatory on all cars in India, where many highway accidents proved fatal due to lack of safety features.

I stayed in England for the last one year. During this time I have seen the following Indian Models some with exact same model name as well:

1) Alto
2) Wagon-R
3) Matiz
4) i10
5) i20
6) Santro
7) Versa Maruti
8) Swift
9) Honda City old one 2001 odd model.

Wow! I never knew a Tata Safari was sold outside India also. Any details on its price? And do they not have an option of any other better SUV at that price?

I had actually spotted a Scorpio in Singapore along with these cars but unfortunately am unable to find the snap.
