Saw an Avanti(could see only the side and rear) in bright green with red number plate drive by on Sunday evening near Vani Mahal junction in T.Nagar, Chennai. Couldn't take a photo in time as it was on the opposite side of the road and phone was in jeans pocket ! It was very unique looking low, long and wide. Wonder if test drives are possible - no money or intent to buy :-).

Love the leaping cat. The owner probably spent 200 bucks on that to convert his made-in-India DC to some Jaguar concept car.

Spotted an Avanti with Black on White plates between Satara and Pune yesterday. The stiff suspension was quite evident along bumpy patches, though the car was being driven at a sedate speed. There was little by way of aural drama, however, the sight created quite a hazard with cars flocking around the Avanti, vying for the close up shots

Had seen the avanti at Autocar india bkc, It was surrounded with people! Looking at the initial reaction of the people they were very much loving the way it looks.

The pictures in the advertisement look like they were taken in the 6th Gear car showroom in Koramangala. Incidentally I spotted a red Avanti in the basement of the DC showroom today, I wonder if it is the same one. It does look smashing in red.

Says a lot about the kind of clientele the car has managed to attract - the ones who would rather spend 36L on a car which looks the sportiest, than get one which is actually much faster and more fun-to-drive.

True, but I think this is the only way for DC. Because if you look at Indian market everybody wants to own a German or British sport cars unlike US or British or German markets where people want to buy homegrown cars.

Well, it will be out of warranty in the next 7,500 kms.

Plus, the current owner seems to be tired already after driving just ~2,500 kms. Reason for sale is mentioned as "upgrading". Good thing being the service history is "very detailed".

At the Autocar Performance Show around a month ago, witnessed the DC Avanti in person for the first time. The paint finish on the car looked nice and I was excited to check out the interiors. And as soon as I sat inside, what a turnoff! The quality of most things inside the car is cheap and one wouldn't feel good about it. It doesn't end there however.

The ergonomics are a disaster for anyone over 5' 9" as they wouldn't be able ti find a comfortable driving position. I being 6 feet tall tried to push the seat all the way back and reclined it till the point it does. Sat normally and my head was properly touching the roof. There's no way I can drive the car that way. The representative told me to slide down a bit which meant I had no lower back support and steering wheel was in my line of vision. When I spoke about poor visibility, the guy quickly said that it has the best all around visibility amongst sports cars

Met Mr. DC as well there and shared the concern with him. He seemed least bothered about it

I am sure many owners would sell their cars as soon as they realize the faults. The initial hoopla would die and then most of these would be seen in smaller towns of India where a rich kid would want to buy an expensive show-off toy.
