The Shreyans group stall sure drew a crowd at the Auto Expo, as they are the official importers for exotic brands like Ferrari and Porsche. Note that none of these marques had an official stall - they were all put on display via Shreyans.

On display was :

• Ferrari California
• Porsche Carrera S
• Porsche Cayenne Hybrid
• Maserati Gran Cabrio (white)
• Maserati Quattroporte S (brown)
• Can-AM Spyder RSS

Nice pics! Posrche should have had an official stall and displayed the all new 911. The Indian market for Porsche is now growing and this could have been the best platform to showcase the 911.

I'm a little surprised that Porsche did not set up their own stall at this Auto Expo.

I was under the impression that Porsche is 'officially' entering the country as a marque, and taking over the dealerships that are run by Shreyans. A little disappointing.

Considering that Porsche offers high levels of customization, they could have had their own stall and showcased the Cayenne diesel, and the Panamera Hybrid. The new 991 type 911 could have also been displayed.

^ As told to me by a Senior Official from a Sports Car marque : They'd rather spend the money on special events where potential owners are invited (e.g. Amby Valley show, Drive on the Buddh etc.). Auto Expo participation isn't cheap.

I think in the end it makes sense.The current venue doesnt really provide top class infrastructure,with huge crowds and lots of jostling.90% of people here are not really the target audience,and neither will be 5 years down the line.

I am sure anyone who wants to buy a porsche knows what he wants.What he really needs is a proper test drive,spend a lot of time and would like to be pampered as well by porsche because he is a high value customer.That porsche does well with their amby valley events.

Expensive! even for these marques, I am surprised. I would think otherwise. They must have thought its a waste as the Indian crowd visiting such Expo will never be their potential customer, they will only drool over it.

Its sad these company still thinks we are third world. Check the case of Mini, they displayed previous generation Mini and allowed everybody to take images in it.

Also some months back there was speculation that Shreyans had bagged the Infiniti brand as well, any news on that front ?

Sigh! That Maserati Gran Turismo has to be the most beautiful car at the Expo. Does anyone know what numbers Maserati is doing in India ?

And dont they have a point? How many of their (super rich) potential customers would struggle in the rush to get a glimpse of the cars?

A track day or a special invitee event makes more sense for them.

Take the Ferrari 'Great India Discovery' campaign for instance. They drove around India showcasing the car to a selected crowd at special venues. Considering their target audience - money spent in a better way! For a track car - they could as well invite people to the circuit.

One question: Who are the folks that are allowed to get close to the cars while others are seen jostling for space behind the barricades to get snaps? Special invitees? I mean i can see one kid (possibly) sitting in the drivers seat in one of the snaps.

Thats a GranCabrio and not a Gran Turismo and i do have to agree its is the Most beautiful car not only at the expo but on normal basis too and a joy to live with. I believe Maserati has sold around 30 cars in India.

Amit, in one of the pics I see a potential buyer (or his wife) sitting in the back seat of the car. How? Check the clutch in her hand. Louis Vuitton et al.

So, i suppose potential customers (on invitation) get a closer peak of the cars. But then, I am only guessing.

I would have loved to see Porsche setting up their own stall, instead of sharing platform offerred by Shreyans.

How lovely is the Maserati Quattroporte S! So elegant, yet so sporty. Sigh, if only!
