Re: I drove a C63 AMG at Buddh!! Mercedes AMG Driving Academy Launched

Hey! Not sure if it's right to share my experience on this thread, but since this is the thread that prompted me to test the C63 thought i'd share my understanding of the car.

Got a chance to test drive the C63 yesterday in Surat for about 20-30mins. Drove it mostly in the comfort mode & with brief bursts in the sport mode. Due it being valentines day eve there was quite a bit of traffic so couldn't really push it for longer stretches.

The car sounds super, it is fast for most normal driving conditions. Loved the gear box esp when i had it in manual, it held to the gears a bit longer. Would have like more feel form the steering, although it felt easy to drive & maneuver in traffic. The ride i felt was choppy, didn't feel as planted as expected & not sure if it would have inspired confidence on a curvy road.
Cheers

Re: I drove a C63 AMG at Buddh!! Mercedes AMG Driving Academy Launched

Apparently, according to a Times of India advert, almost anyone can test drive this C63 AMG. AutoHangar Bombay is offering the car to people at will. Such is what my friend told me and I may meet him tomorrow for a test drive in this car.

Re: I drove a C63 AMG at Buddh!! Mercedes AMG Driving Academy Launched

Almost all dealers now have a C63 AMG test drive car,

Not only test drive but in Gujarat we frequently see half page ads in Times and other newspapers dedicated to AMG, good to see such a push by MBIL,

I've heard so many different versions of this event that i'm not sure exactly what to believe

I'm sure about one thing though : it must have been insane!!

Thanks for sharing. Interesting view on the suspension. Given that i drove it on perfectly F1-grade tarmac, i have no idea how it would behave on Indian roads.

Did you get a TD yet?

Good move. If Merc wants to take the fight to BMW and Audi, then need to "liven" up their image a little. Appeal to the younger people too, not just the grey hairs.

The You Tube Video of the View of Buddh Circuit from the SLS had me transfixed with goose bumps and sound of the wind buffeting the insides of the car and resonating was awesome. Thanks for letting the car and wind do the talking. I'm gonna share this video on my FB page.

@ Rehaan. Yeah! i mean the continental tires had good grip & all, but the still the ride, feel & handling left me wanting for more. I guess some more time with the car would have given a more clear picture, may be someone else will also chip in with their input for the same.
Cheers

Rehaan: Not just yet, but I did go along with my friend for the drive at BKC and it was stunning fun. I've contacted AutoHangar and will mostly call them next week.

Re: I drove a C63 AMG at Buddh!! Mercedes AMG Driving Academy Launched

Just Test drove the C63 AMG along, and have to say the car left me absolutely impressed, 20% of the drive was on undulated roads, and 20% on roads with not the best straight level surfacing and have to say on all times the car was absolutely composed, Love the seats esp. considering in India they are standard even in base price and the overall package makes this the best car to buy in its segment for now, I maybe a little biased because of AMG and the 6.2 Block, and the 4 doors, but would recommend the car with eyes shut,

It does everything so well, and you lose none of the practical aspects of the Sedan, The ride maybe a little harsh, but no something one cant live with, and once you start the car, the engine noise will ensure you never keep the iPod connected.

Next week is FF at Buddh International Circuit! Can't wait!

Super. Am guessing you took part?

Could you tell us what the schedule of the day was like, how many minutes of driving time you got / how many laps of the track / rounds of the slalom, etc

Thanks,

Honestly speaking I am more byast towards the m3, as it doesnt try to kill you. C63 amgs have always been great cars but at the limits are extremely unpredictable and unforgiving. The M3s are far more stable, and provide gobs of feedback at the limit, and generally handle a lot better than the AMG. Try drivng both back to back and you will get what I mean. M3s are also better track cars for the same reasons.
