This was my first Supercar show - Attached are lessons observed and to be kept in mind for the Supercar show in 2013

1. Arrive as early as possible - it gives you enough time with the cars
2. Arrange paddock passes beforehand - NO "at the left of the right in the centre, a guy in a red shirt will give you your passes" - 45 minutes and no red shirt - a big thank you for participating friends for the arrangement
3. Abuse/Swear at people who come in your way when they know you are taking a snap - being polite does not help
4. Do not park right at entrance - was one of the last to get out
5. Saw people pushing kids and women around - guys you do this normally - for them its entertainment - let them enjoy
6. Heard someone see an Abarth and say,"ae, dekh Mini Cooper" - do stop by and eduate people - they appreciate it
7. Meet the owners - they feel left out - talk to them and get some inspiration on how they are where they are - dont "kitna deti hai?" ever
8. Lastly, respect the cars - YES your denim rivets can dent/nick the cars.

Overall, a funtastic event - Happy to see GS himself controlling the crowds while Mrs. GS was happily revving the yellow 458

Spoke for a couple of minutes with Mr. Balboni - discussing Mumbai roads

Look forward to the photos / videos
Hope you got a good look at all the cars especially the GT3 SLS before everyone started moving.

With the way this event managed, no 2013 show for me at least.

Re: Pictures: Mumbai Supercar Show & Drive 2012!

Great pics guys. I was in Karl's white M3 V8. It seems like one of the most practical supercars. Full four seats and the rear can comfortable seat a full sized person. Of course ingress and egress is..well better in a four door

Karl treats his car well and drives it like it should be driven. Thanks for the ride Karl.

Regarding the people on the road, well i wish they had more road sense. The worse of the lot was a couple at reclamation the lady kept hailing all...yes all cars one by one down to pose ans the friend, kept clicking away throwing caution to the winds. I wish people had some more sense. I will end my synopsis on traffic and other sense of the general public, the lesser said the better.

The drive was fantastic and i felt that the general crowd is getting more enthusiastic about cars with each passing days. Thanks to GS, the awareness of these supercars is getting spread amongst the general public. Also gets the owners together to meet each other and compare and exchange notes, not to mention have a nice day enjoying the drive in the company of similar vehicles. I was told there were 101+ entries. Not to mention the others who just tagged along. Who says India is undergoing recession.

I will have good dreams tonite

This is sad. Incidents like these could discourage supercar owners from participating and then this annual event which lot of us look forward to would lose its charm.

The organizers should take help from the traffic police and allow a buffer zone in the front and back of the parade or a special lane for the supercars on this day.

Re: Pictures: Mumbai Supercar Show & Drive 2012!

There were many little incidents of scrapes and dents as well, a 458 had some issue too (not sure what, wouldn't want to comment) but the event staff was panicking, someone suggested to keep the car running.

Icing was the woman announcing the awards, she calls it the "Jaguar XVR-J".

Nice clicks .I am shocked to hear such words from a guy like GS,did he really say that?I mean even if he did shouldn't have publicized it(pity the rs owner).

While most of us are finding this funny, i wouldnt want someone to do that to my car even if it was a Maruti 800. I dont think the owner would be amused looking at his car being handled like trash.

That Maserati crash is sad! Enthusiasm is a good thing, but every driver should know their and their car's limits.

Re: Pictures: Mumbai Supercar Show & Drive 2012!

Pardon my ignorance but what was Valentini Balboni doing at the show? Was something to do with Lambo promotion?

And if I'm not mistaken that yellow Cayman with the yellow time attacks on the rims belongs to fellow BHPian Dante?

I'd pick the white!

This and your "copper coloured R8" comment make me realise that we have very different colour tastes

Nope, i did not go along in any car. To be honest, don't think i'd enjoy it much in this context.

Re: Pictures: Mumbai Supercar Show & Drive 2012!

So was the Figo guy slapped or something atleast?? It was something we all dreaded and hoped would never happen since the time the SC rally was introduced seeing the crazy wanna-be racers chasing the exotics, but finally did.

The worst part for the exotic drivers and the best part for me was the Chowpatty Jain Mandal ceremonial parade or procession which caused a traffic jam at walkeshwar. Thankfully, most of the rally participants decided to take a detour and drive from Babulnath and decided to rev up rather than idle.

Was blown over seeing and hearing all the supercars on the street goin hither thither and did not know on which one to concentrate. Please can such events happen more often with the streets being blocked for a couple of hours like the marathon days or something.

Re: Pictures: Mumbai Supercar Show & Drive 2012!

The last batch from me. The supercars must find dumbstuck at the non caring traffic, zooming bikes as well as TForts, Swifts and others filled to brim flowing out of windows dashing thru with non-caring attitude. I found atleast the Worli seaface bystanders observing the parade from a distance a lot better, having carefully parked their vehicles at roadsides or far-off and trying to enjoy the parade without causing any hurdles or grievance to the parade.

He retired in 2008 because of retirement laws in Italy, but he has some contract with Lamborghini (as a consultant), which can be extended unlimited times.
