Re: An ///M-azing Republic Day...BMW F10 M5 Pics and early impressions

Sweeeet!!

That engine bay is insane. Its too bad you guys were still breaking her in.

Did you take the M3 up to Mahabs as well?

My major concern for the F10M M5 is that its just too big for my liking. Did you feel this way when driving it? Do you think you could throw it around like you would your M3?

Thanks for the pics. Holding back on my "fleet of sexy tourist taxis!" comment

PS - I think one thing that makes the F10 more like a sleeper is that on the side profile, the stock alloys just aren't crazy enough to turn heads.

White color on Beamer looks really classy.
That is the Heads Up Display (HUD); it projects an image onto the windscreen so that you don't have to take your eyes off the road to see vital info such as engine speed, vehicle speed, gear, sat-nav info, etc.

Didn't take the M3, drove-up in the M5. Yes, the M5 feels a lot bigger than the M3 and it IS a fair bit bigger. Granted it's not my car, we were running the car in AND I'm not really familiar with the F10 series' size, but I know there were a LOT of gaps in traffic that I would just have grabbed in my M3 but didn't dare think about in the M5. To be fair, a lot of that apprehension would go away given enough time in the car and if I owned it, but still...

On the really twisty bits on the ghat it felt quite nimble, nowhere near as nimble as the M3, but quite nimble all the same!

As for the alloys, I really like them, but there's no doubt the M5 is a real sleeper!

Thanks for the write-up on such a fantastic car, kbk_75! I wish someone gets this car in that electric blue that BMW so blatantly advertised on this car. Looked gorgeous, especially with those blue calipers. Your friend has lovely taste

P.S. Your car's bone-stock look is amazing!

Sublime!

And I like your choice of wheels too. They look very classy, and somehow, better than the wheels that I've seen on the F10 M5 otherwise. You've got the perfect pair of //Ms at home. Why don't you round it off with a X5 M-diesel for those rough roads and long distances?

*statements that you could forward to your friend on my behalf

You're probably referring to the 20" wheels they have on all the ads, the ones that resemble the old M6 / X6M rims!

Wondeful Pictures and writeup of a wondeful car Kbk. . The car looks greats although personally I would still pick the E60 over the F10. Many would agree with me that the newer models are failing to keep up with its Predecessors. Atleast when it comes to looks. Nonetheless congrats to your friend on a fantastic car

By the way I believe the speed limit in 250 for the F10, was it there for the E60 as well?

Yes, all BMWs come with the 155mph (250Km/h) speed limiter which can be removed with a software update on current cars.

Nice pictures! Bmw states that without the speed limiter the F10 M5 can do 200mph!

Kbk_75:

The pictures are amazing and so are the words.

Thanks for the review and looking forward to seeing this car on the roads. Would love to see it face off against an E63 AMG for a proper comparison.

Can that be arranged? Seeing as you are friends with the White M5's owner and insideman knows the guy with the white E63??

The BMW M5 and M3 are my dream cars - thanks for the pics KBK_75. To see both in the same pic is heavenly.

Cheers!

Re: An ///M-azing Republic Day...BMW F10 M5 Pics and early impressions

@kbk

i am glad that you mentioned that you wouldn't trade the m3. all the while i was looking at the pictures i felt that m3 still feels and looks better (sorry about your mate) - but that's and m5!!! there definitely is something wrong with me.

great effort on the pics i must say. parking the cars head on. then with their backs, then side by side. must have needed herculean will power to click the pics first (while making the cars pose) and not just go all out with the M.

p.s: loved the idea of the HUD. thank you for uploading the pics of it. any chances of it getting retro-fitted in other beemers? maybe your m3?

AutoExpress has already done it. F10 vs w212 e 63 vs xf R facelift vs (for some odd reason) panamera S.

Nice pictures there, would be nice to see the interior pics of the M5 too. The one at the Auto Expo had a stupid spherical gear stick, does it have the same ?
