We would like to share a very unique car and a special job we just completed.
A 997 911 turbo is rare but a manual trans 997 911 turbo very rare
Car : Porsche 911 Turbo
Transmission : Manual with Shortshifter
Customer Request : Major service , check slight engine oil leakage
Job Done : On inspection at our Racetech Center Hyderabad we diagnosed the oil leak due to a damaged crankshaft oil seal or from the oil cooler.
We got the Porsche 911 turbo engine and transmission out of the car , located the problem, replaced the parts with original Porsche parts.
On inspection a decision was taken to put in a new clutch assembly.
We changed the clutch assembly.
A major service was performed and all fluids and filters changed.
We have the original Porsche testers, all faults were erased and adaptations performed.
A test drive confirmed everything in order.
Total time taken : 2 days
It has been over 10 days and more than 200kms the customer confirmed everything working better than before.

Only 2days for a such a problem and replacing clutch on such an exotic car.:thumbs up
We at our dealership take atleast 3-4 days to replace a clutch assembly.
Keep it up.
Did you guys also replace the Thrust bearing and sensor as well?
Where in HYD is Racetech located.

Hi Farooq,
We love red bull when we work :)
The thrust bearing was perfect , we had it in stock but why replace if its perfect same with the sensor.

We are located at road number 36 Jubilee hills ,
Racetech thats a fantastic job,and a manual Turbo!Hats of to the owner.:)
Please do keep posting about such jobs on exotics which you do,supercar after-sales is mostly an alien world for most of us,and usually is the source of more horror stories than Skoda.Reading about more such jobs helps in allaying fears of some prospective future owners,and nice reading for not-so-lucky ones like us.
BTW is it me or the rear tyres seem to be a little low on tread?
It's terrific to see how easily you guys get the most complex jobs done and in so less time! Hats off to the engineers at the workshop. And if you guys have any job openings, lemme know... I'll even work for free :D

I should advice my techincians also for RB thing.
Well the thrust bearing we replace on all our ferrari and maserati when ever we have do clutch replacement job along with the F1 sensor.
We had some bad expirences before doing a redo job when we found the thrust bearing and sensor ok and later we have the same car for clutch issue again and found the bearing or sensor to be the culprit.
The porsche being manual i dont think this one really needed a bearing or sensor unless and untill you found it damage and really need to be replaced.
It is recomended by ferrari dealer itself to change the complete set on the the clutch job.
Well do you mind sharing the total cost involved, spares and labour.
Did you ever got a maserati or ferrari for any kind of repair.
Would love to meet you guys on my next vacation.

Hi Farooq,
Yes you are right we follow the same rule , when we work on Ferrari/Lamborghini we replace the clutch assembly along with sensor,thrust bearing and in most cases also the flywheel, we also change a lot of "o" rings and all the fluids.
Yes we have worked on a fair amount of Ferrari's and Maserati's for clutch jobs, minor/major service and performance upgrades.

Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my keyboard. Perfect car, perfect transmission, perfect colour and perfect wheels (got a thing for 5 spokes). The owner has sheer taste. I don't care if the tiptronic is faster than the MT...the latter is 100X more fun.
The tyres look worn out though. Do ask the owner to check on that.

How many kms does a Porsche 911 Turbo clutch last? Last we checked, that of Lamborghinis wear out in 5,000 kms :)

Considering a Toyota Corolla would be off the road for atleast a day for a clutch replacement, that's a phenomenal turnaround time.

Just curious , how much on each, would some one be spending to replace the oil seal and how much for a new clutch on the Porsche ?

I can understand that this is a MANual car but isn't it taking it too far by putting a real MAN (ref last pic) in the engine bay. :D
