Nothing that's left behind, man! Accidents like these are probably holding the owners from participating with full gusto.

Maybe, it stems from last year's Maserati accident that we didn't observe as much turn up in terms of supercars this time. This one is as bad as it gets. Hope, doesn't dissuade any more owners from prticipating in the ensuing years!

Whatever remained was dragged away by a tow truck. Have loads of pics, but need to get home for that.

Cause of this is unknown but rumors are this was a new brand new car & was being over revved for too long

Re: Parx SuperCar Show : 26th - 27th January, 2013

It was a silver colour R8 V8.The driver is safe.
Have a few pics of the car on flames, but would not be uploading it.
How did the fire occur?

Apparently I read that the driver over revved the engine and it caught fire. Thank god the driver is safe.
BTW, isn't the rev-limiter suppose to prevent this? It should not allow the engine to be over-revved.
EDIT: Just read Karan's comments about it being over-revved for a long time. Then yes, it can catch fire if it was being done for long.

Re: Parx SuperCar Show : 26th - 27th January, 2013

^ How is it that participating in events like these is causing the damage? Was this car involved in some accident?
I think if this car had to light up it would have today even if it hadn't been at the event. probably an electrical glitch.

Edit: how is it possible that too much revs cause a fire. its a liquid cooled engine. the company is supposed to fool proof it against this kind of operation.

If its a new car, the running in guidelines are pretty clear not to exceed a certain rpm range till about say 2000 kms ( varies for different vehicles )

But still before we do not know the actual reason for the cause of the fire it wont be apt to come to conclusions to blame the driver of over revving.

Damn it had to be a electrical issue. A naturally aspirated car could not possibly catch on fire because of mechanical reasons.

I think there was too much nos used he should of paid attention when his laptop was saying danger to the manifold!!
